“INTEGRATION OF SMART GLASS TO BUILDINGS IN BICOL REGION”

PROBLEM: The concern of this research focuses mainly on environmental problems in which buildings
are one of the culprits in terms of energy consumptions and carbon emissions which causes global
warming/climate change. With this environmental impact, we continue to demand more energy resulting
to long term financial burden, poor air quality, water depletion, etc. especially when buildings are poorly
built. Looking in a deeper perspective, the researchers aim to determine reliable materials to generate a
smart glass prototype inside Bicol region/country with a cheaper and efficient characteristics that is
potential for production in the long run. The researchers also consider the cost of the said prototype to be
most likely expensive but they also consider its impact to the overall cost of the construction.

MARKET: The target market of this research are the business clients/investors who plan to build
commercial/residential buildings in Bicol Region.

SOLUTION: An alternative solution to the environmental problems brought by buildings is the

integration of smart glass since it has the ability to control temperature and light caused by sunlight while
at the same time provides more capacity for aesthetic design and modernity of the building. With this, we
can be able to primarily mitigate energy consumption, improve air quality, reduce financial burden, and a
design innovative building.

ASK: The researchers ask for research funding necessary to further evaluate the result upon production.
Also, there is a need to ask for man power such as in other courses especially those Electronic and
Communication Engineers so that this research will obtain the best possibility of success since smart glass
involves electronic equipment and circuits.
