Skills for Developing others:

Land Rights:
One of Bolsonaro’s first acts as president was to halt all new demarcations of indigenous lands which
means to recognized Brazil’s indigenous people for their legal title to land, as indigenous people are not
strong enough to fight back, so there is need to support them.

Education:
Jair Bolsonar’s goal was to make education system better as Brazil’s education system is worse than you
might imagine. In the hot north of the country, some students attend schools made of sticks and mud. In
Rio’s hillside slums, or favelas, schools are out of session for weeks or months at a time, thanks to
regular gunfire in the area. Even in the better-educated south of the country, teachers have
been protesting in the streets for better pay for years. He also promised to get rid of issues such as
gender violence from the national college-entrance exam.

Economy:
As Brazil is going through the hard time, Bolsonar want to boast the economy and want to make Brazil
the capital state. For that he propose the Pension reform, in which the age was increased as pension is
the biggest driver of the deficit approx 8%, he also propose privatization & Tax cut so that will spark
investment and create million of job, so the people of Brazil have good living standards.

Dark side of the Leader

COVID-19
Like Donald Trump, Jair Bolsonaro was not taking corona virus seriously, he undermined mayor and
state governors when they try to impose lockdown, social distancing rule and mask.He also forced the
health minister to focused on the unproven cure like Hydroxychloroquine , ivermectin etc rather than
focusing on hospital infrastructure, ventilator etc.
His stance was that he is avoiding the Covid measure in order to protect the economyafter mocking the
risk of coronavirus infection for months, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro announced that he had tested
positive for the virus. Since the arrival of the pandemic in Brazil, Bolsonaro has single-handedly created
chaos: he has belittled its severity, despite overwhelming evidence of its danger; publicly defied social-
isolation measures by walking among crowds and shaking hands, and encouraging others to do so;
fought with and fired a health minister, and undermined the efforts of the rest of the country’s leaders.
Asked about the rising number of cases in São Paulo, in an interview on March 27th, Bolsonaro replied,
“I’m sorry—some people will die. They will die. That’s life. You can’t stop a car factory because of
traffic deaths.
Amazon Deforestation:
Since Jair Bolsonaro took the Brazilian presidency in 2019, the Amazon, which makes up 10% of our planet's
biodiversity and absorbs an estimated 5% of global carbon emissions, has been hit with a record number of fires
and unprecedented deforestation. At the same time, those who have proved the most responsible guardians of
the forest, are under increasing pressure and threatened by escalating violence.
Since Bolsonaro came to power, there has been an increase in invasions of indigenous lands by loggers and miners,
and seven indigenous leaders have been killed in land disputes.
Bolsonaro, who has compared indigenous people to zoo animals and accused indigenous leaders of working to
promote foreign interests in the Amazon, has repeatedly threatened to end the policy of land demarcation,
whereby indigenous communities are granted the right to clearly defined territories.
He has also attacked the National Indigenous Foundation (FUNAI) — the governmental agency for indigenous
interests, cutting its funding and powers and forbidding its employees from speaking to the press.
At the same time, the right-wing president has scrapped environmental regulations and is set to legalize 300,000
illegally occupied rural properties,86% of them in the Amazon territory and many of them commercial farming or
logging operations.
