Think about assessments you have designed or taken in the past. Did grades on those
assessments accurately represent the knowledge of the individuals taking them (validity)?
Do you think that you or others would obtain similar scores if you took the exams again
(reliability)? What are some ways you could attempt to increase the validity and reliability of
the assessments you design?

 In your own words, define validity and reliability. Check your definitions against the
ones provided in the reading and look for any discrepancies.
 Consider the metaphor of the target and arrows. If an archer misses the bullseye
often, but misses consistently in the bottom left corner, does this represent valid
shooting? Reliable shooting? Why or why not?
