1. Define health according to WHO and Explain?

Health, according to the World Health Organization, is “a state of complete physical,

mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity.” A
variety of definitions have been used for different purposes over time. Health can be
promoted by encouraging healthful activities, such as regular physical exercise, and by
reducing or avoiding unhealthful activities or situations, such as smoking or excessive
stress. Some factors affecting health are due to individual choices, such as whether to
engage in a high-risk behavior, and others are due to structural causes, such as whether
the society is arranged in a way that makes it easier or harder for people to get
necessary healthcare services. Still other factors are beyond both individual and group
choices, such as genetic disorders.

What is maslow’s Hierarchy of needs?

Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is an idea in psychology proposed by Russian-American

Abraham Maslow in his 1943 paper “A Theory of Human Motivation” in the journal
Psychological Review. Maslow subsequently extended the idea to include his
observations of humans’ innate curiosity. His theories parallel many other theories of
human developmental psychology, some of which focus on describing the stages of
growth in humans.

Self-Actualization Needs
The fifth and final level of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is self-actualization needs. Self-
actualization relates to the realization of an individual’s full potential. At this level,
people strive to become the best that they possibly can be.
Esteem Needs
The fourth level of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is esteem needs. Esteem needs are
related to a person’s need to gain recognition, status, and feel respected. Once someone
has fulfilled their love and belonging needs, they seek to fulfill their esteem needs.
Love and Belonging Needs
The third level of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is love and belonging needs. Humans are
social creatures that crave interaction with others. This level of the hierarchy outlines
the need for friendship, intimacy, family, and love. Humans have the need to give and
receive love; to feel like they belong in a group. When deprived of these needs,
individuals may experience loneliness or depression.
Safety Needs
The second level of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs consists of safety needs. Safety, or
security needs, relate to a person’s need to feel safe and secure in their life and
surroundings. Motivation comes from the need for law, order, and protection from
unpredictable and dangerous conditions.
Physiological Needs
Physiological needs are the lowest level of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. They are the
most essential things a person needs to survive. They include the need for shelter, water,
food, warmth, rest, and health. A person’s motivation at this level derives from their
instinct to survive.

2. What is man?
“What a man can be, he must be,” Maslow explained, referring to the need people have
to achieve their full potential as human beings.According to Maslow’s definition of self-
actualization, “It may be loosely described as the full use and exploitation of talents,
capabilities, potentialities, etc. Such people seem to be fulfilling themselves and to be
doing the best that they are capable of doing. They are people who have developed or
are developing to the full stature of which they capable.”

3. What is Illness?

Illness is a state of poor health or sickness, as in I’ve had to miss a lot of work due to
illness. The word illness is also commonly used to refer to a disease or instance of
sickness. This sense of the word is often used when the type of disease is uncertain or
unknown or when someone doesn’t want to specify what it is. Illness is something that
needs to be managed such as feelings of pain, discomfort, distress, weakness, fatigue,
etc. Obviously, these two things are not mutually exclusive, and they often occur
together. Disease is something that needs to be cured. Illness is something that needs to
be managed.

4. What is Wellness?

The condition of good physical, mental and emotional health, especially when
maintained by an appropriate diet, exercise, and other lifestyle modifications.
Wellness is the act of practicing healthy habits on a daily basis to attain better physical
and mental health outcomes, so that instead of just surviving, you’re thriving. Each one
has an impact on your physical and mental health.

5. Differentiate needs to wants?

The term needs is defined as an individual’s basic requirement that must be

fulfilled, in order to survive. Wants are described as the goods and services, which
an individual like to have.

Example :
• An individual needs are limited while his wants are unlimited.

• Needs are something that you must have, in order to live. On the contrary,
wants are something that you wish to have, so as to add comforts in your life.
