The Ideal Learning Environment Group Project

Students will work together to develop an “Ideal Classroom”

Presentations will be given to the class in your choice:

● On poster board
● On butcher paper, you need to let me know what color and size you want
● On Google slides

Students will demonstrate and/or illustrate what types of seating arrangements they
prefer
● Desks - which way do the desks
● Tables - are there tables
● Rows - do the desks line up in rows
● Groups (sizes) - are the desks in groups

Students will demonstrate and/or illustrate what:

❏ they want the walls to look like, what is one them, or NOT on them
❏ where they can work in small groups
❏ where the extra resources are (i.e. extra paper, markers, highlighters, etc)
❏ Which way the students’ desks face (consider the door)
❏ teacher’s desk

You can find pictures on the internet or in magazines or draw them.

It is wise to use your time in class to determine and outline

1. What YOU want, you should each express your own ideas,
2. If you don’t know what you DO what, think about what you DON’T want
3. Research it
4. Collaborate!!
5. Who will present
6. Who will draw or find the pictures
7. Write a script of teacher and student interaction (it can be just a few
sentences)
○ You will determine if it is instruction, guidance through classwork,
assigning homework, etc
○ You may write on the board if it works into your script

This is due: Tuesday, April 15.

You will have time on Tuesdays and Thursdays to work on this but group members may
need Wed and Friday for their own “other” work so do NOT count on Wed or Fridays.

Get together and list your strengths. Consider these questions:
● Who is good at staying on time/keeping the project on schedule?
● Who is good at being creative?
● Who is good at taking directions, “you tell me what to do and I’ll do it”?
● Who is good at making sure everyone has a part to do, “the director”?
● Who is good at helping each group member gets to share his or her ideas?
