Top 5 Most Expensive Yachts In The World

INTRO:
There’s riding in style, but then there’s boating in style! A luxury yacht is not just a larger
boat with plumbing, not even a mere mode of transportation. A luxury yacht is instead a symbol
of wealth and status for only the elite. These luxurious yachts we will be covering today can only
be enjoyed by the most wealthy of billionaires around the world. This is the kind of beauty and
grace you’d only find in a fragrance commercial or maybe a blockbuster movie about the
financially elitists. The most luxurious yachts allow far reaching features like helipads, private
theatres, and even swimming pools! There are only a handful of these to go around… and each
are special in their own ways. So ditch the land, swap out those sneakers for some designer
loafers, and set sail for the ride of a lifetime. You won’t regret it. Welcome to Insane Luxury,
where we take a look at the most incredible things that money can buy. Here are the top 5 most
expensive yachts in the world!

5. Topaz - $527 Million

Get ready for luxury, because the first yacht on our list is owned by Sheikh Mansour,
who is the deputy prime minister of the United Arab Emirates. This massive vessel boasts a
length of around 482 feet, and features a beam that is a whopping 70 and a half feet long. Back
when the idea of Topaz was first conceived, it was sitting in a 554 foot dry dock… That
obviously wasn’t going to work out well for too long. Once the builders realized how long it
would be, they had no choice but to bring the boat to a larger 720 foot dock that allowed its
completion and ability to launch in 2012. As far as speed is concerned, you would assume that
such a massive boat would render slow speeds, but make no mistake as this yacht packs twin
Pielstick diesel-fuel engines that pump out 7,990 horsepower and a max speed of 25 and a half
knots.
Aside from the technicalities, this beast of a yacht is packed with all the luxuries only the
elite could fathom experiencing. From its whopping eight viewing decks to its gorgeous interiors
that hold a jacuzzi, sweeping central air, underwater lighting fixtures, and a full gym and cinema,
there’s no penny wasted on this gorgeous craft. If you plan on expecting some guests, don’t
worry as this yacht comes with not one, but two helipads.

4. Rising Sun - $590 Million

Ah, the yacht standard for billionaires of all shapes and, well, sizes of their wealth! From
its owner, billionaire and entertainment industry mogul David Geffen to Amazon CEO Jeff
Bezos, Rising Sun has seen an immeasurable amount of wealth climb aboard. No, seriously, Jeff
Bezos was spotted on Rising Sun off the coast of Spain last summer with girlfriend Lauren
Sanchez, American fashion model, Karlie Kloss, and former Goldman Sachs CEO, Lloyd
Blankfein.
This 454 foot super yacht is definitely smaller than Topaz, but for good reason! It was
originally built for Oracle founder Larry Ellison, but David Geffen purchased a half share of it
back in 2006 and finalized the deal in 2010 totaling $590 million. The gorgeous yacht can hold
up to 18 guests as well as a private staff of 55 people… bet you didn’t see that one coming. It
even has a basketball court, you know, if the private staff wasn’t enough for you. For those
looking for a more private experience, especially since you’re probably a billionaire, the top deck
of Rising Sun is dedicated entirely to the owner, as it holds entertainment accommodations like a
double height cinema.

3. Azzam - $600 Million

This super yacht, known as Azzam, is the largest motor yacht in the world. Measuring a
whopping 590 feet in length, this yacht cost $600 million to build. The yacht was completed in
2013, and belongs to the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa. Azzam can
reach some pretty quick speeds despite its massive size. With 94,000 horsepower, the yacht can
hit a max speed of 31 and a half knots, far surpassing Topaz. This yacht is so exclusive that
interior photos don’t even really exist, but it’s rumored to hold a 6,000 square foot lounge with
up to 50 suites and even a 95 foot salon to calm those beachy waves!
Azzam is just another luxury yacht owned by a member of Dubai’s royal family, which
also means that it’s one of the most exclusive, with many of its features unknown, but the public
is still aware of its incredible speed as well as its gorgeous French designs and decorations.

2. Eclipse - $1.5 Billion

Finally crossing over into the billion price range, this 533 foot long superyacht was
crowned the second largest, and of course one of the most expensive yachts in the world. A pure
synonym for luxury is this superyacht and its versatile accommodations for the adventurous type
out at sea. This yacht was built by the world renowned German ship constructor Blohm and Voss
for Russian businessman and politician, Roman Abramovich. Eclipse was finished in June of
2009, following a long drawn out 5 years of development.
While the naval architecture was provided by Blohm and Voss, the superstructure design
of Eclipse was done by none other than Terence Disdale Design, the luxury UK-based firm that
also crafted the interior design and deck layouts.
Holding an impressive 9 decks, the top level of Eclipse is overtaken by the helicopters
and garage space. There’s a massive swimming pool and sun deck on the eighth deck, followed
by the atrium and open deck on the seventh. Make a trip down to the sixth and fourth floors and
you’ll find a salon, dining hall, and the grand entrance to the yacht.
What’s most impressive about Eclipse is probably its aluminum superstructure and decks
that feature expertly crafted teak woods. Its Art Deco interiors add to its innovative
technology-rich features like an ultra modern stabilization system that minimizes roll motion.
The diverse amenities throughout the yacht also speak to the pure breadth of luxury only a
billionaire could ever experience aboard the magnificent Eclipse!
1. History Supreme - $4.8 Billion
Topping the list, taking the win as the world’s most expensive yacht, is History Supreme,
which took a full three years to finish, and is covered in 220,000 pounds of precious metals.
From the base of the boat all the way to the deck and down to the anchor, it’s all plated in gold
and platinum!
The unfathomable price tag is the culmination of an exquisite master bedroom, accented
with platinum and wall details that are formed from meteoric stones and a real T-Rex dinosaur
fossil. The base of the yacht as well as the deck, dining areas, and rails are all wrapped in solid
gold, if the dinosaur fossil wasn’t enough for you. History Supreme is owned by the richest man
in Malaysia, Robert Kuok, who purchased the super yacht for 3 times the amount the owner of
Eclipse paid for theirs. It’s no secret as to what makes this yacht the most expensive. No other
yacht holds as many precious accents as this one does. After all, it has details formed from a real
dinosaur fossil.

OUTRO:
Well, there you have it! These are the top 5 most expensive yachts in the world. From
Topaz, which was so big it had to change construction locations, all the way to a dripped in gold
and platinum masterpiece like History Supreme. But we can’t forget about the celebrity swarmed
Rising Sun who has seen passengers to the likes of the richest person in the world, or even the
fastest yacht on our list, Azzam, which can reach speeds of 31 and a half knots! After all, riding
in luxury doesn’t always mean travelling in tiny private jets or concierge driven cars, it often
means setting sail in a fortified hunk of precious luxury like one of these exquisite super yachts.
