Ans. The size of the shadow depends on the distance between the object and the

source of light and also on the distance between the surface where shadow forms and

the object whose shadow is being formed.

2. What happens when light falls on a wooden chair. Justify your answer.

Ans. When light falls on a wooden chair, shadow is formed. As the wooden chair is

an opaque object it will not allow light to pass through it and thus shadow is formed.
3. Observe below picture and answer the following:

a. Which side of the light will the shadow be formed?

Ans-The shadow will form at the opposite side of source of light.

b. What will be the colour of the shadow?

Ans-The shadow formed will be black in colour.

c. What will happen to the shadow if the torch is moved away from the card?

Ans-The size of the shadow becomes smaller when the torch is moved away from
the card.
