Course Objectives:

To introduce different types of biomedical signals and images


To introduce different techniques for analysis and characterization of biomedical signal and
images.

1 Bio-signal acquisition: Basics of bio-signal acquisition systems 9 a
like electrocardiograph (ECG), electromyograph (EMG),
electroencephalograph (EEG), electrogastrograph (EGG). Image
acquisition systems like X-ray, CT scan, MRI scan.
2 Bio-signal processing 1: Basic approaches of single processing. 9 a, b, e, k
Characterization of bio-signals involving transforms, convolution
and filtering.
3 Bio-signal processing 2: Application of signal processing 9 a, b, e, k
techniques for characterization of different bio-signals
4 Image processing 1: Basics of image processing, image 9 a, b, e, k
enhancement, image restoration, morphological operations.
5 Image processing 2: Image segmentation, image reconstruction. 9 a, b, e, k
