• Step 1: Connect teach in box (Part nr. 6034327000) to connection (Photo 2)

located behind the CEB control box (Photo 1) located on the left hand side of the
drivers seat. Make sure that the potentiometer is at “0” and the auto idle switch is
off. Start the machine and run the engine at an idle. Press and hold button on teach
in box until the light comes on (you will hear a slight change in engine Rpm’s). At
this time the light on the teach in box should be blinking one time every second
(Step 1 of teach in). In this step there are 3 adjustments: High idle, Low idle and
VD 3 pressure. Þ NEXT PAGE

• (Step 1 continued from page 1): On specific machine types there has been an
attachment installed to read engine Rpm’s electronically (photo 3). If this is
available a normal voltmeter can be hooked up and the Rpm’s read. Using a
voltmeter 1 volt = 1000 Rpm’s. Adjust the low idle to 875 Rpm’s directly on the
diesel adjusting cylinder (photo 4). Although a tolerance of 800-950 is allowed a
better outcome is usually achieved with a low idle setting of 875 Rpm’s. Move the
throttle control handle (Photo 5) into the high idle position and adjust the high idle
directly on the diesel adjusting cylinder (Photo 4) to the specifications listed on
page 6.2.09 of the service handbook. Please note that there are different
adjustments on the diesel cylinder (cylinder and cable) Both may be used and
individual adjustments could be different on each machine.Þ NEXT PAGE

circumstances should you move the throttle handle until the engine is completely
at low idle. Move the throttle handle to low idle position (photo 7).

completed.

Teach-In procedure

With the engine shut off connect the Teach-In box (P/N 6036327001).

Make the following pre-checks:

• Insure that the ball cock valve for the emergency operation is in the closed position
(Vertical position)
• Check that the VD3 plug is on and secure
• Turn off the auto-idle and switch off all auxiliary consumers
• RPM throttle lever is in the low idle position

Start the engine

Press and hold the button on the Teach-In box until the light comes on. The light will blink
once every second.

• Step 1

Measure the pressure on the VD3 valve and adjust to 8.9 bar (Clockwise to lower the pressure
– Counterclockwise to raise)
Adjust the engine low and high idle by adjusting the VDO step motor linkage or directly on
the governor stop screws.
o See table 6.2.09 for RPM tolerances

* Move the throttle control lever to the high idle position before proceeding to step 2 !!!

• Step 2

Press the button on the teach in box for approx. 1 second. At this time the CEB-Box will
check the signal from the VDO Position-motor (min. 3,3 Volts). The engine will go to low
idle. Move the throttle control lever to low idle position. The teach-in box lamp will now be
blinking 2 times a second.

• Step 3

The Engine will go automatically to low idle and the CEB box will check the return signal
from the VDO-positioning motor (Max. 1,2 V) and perform a routine check of 20 steps to
high idle, 20 steps to low idle, again, 20 steps to high idle and 20 steps to low idle. The
Teach-in box will be blinking 3 times a second.

When this is completed the lamp on the Teach-in box will go out and the GLR lamp will go
out. If the GLR lamp remains on or blinks then there is a fault. (Refer to the fault code chart
on the next page)

The teach-in process can be ended at any time either by turning the ignition off or by pressing
the teach-in button until the lamp goes out.

Teach-in fault codes

Out No fault present

Blink code 1 High idle out of tolerance

Blink code 2 Low idle out of tolerance

Blink code 3 VDO positioning-motor return signal in step 2 is less than 3,3 V
(Adjustment on the linkage between motor and governor)

Blink code 4 VDO positioning-motor return signal in step 3 is more than 1,2 V
(Adjustment on the linkage between motor and governor)

Blink code 5 Signal from throttle control lever is out of tolerance in the high idle
position. (Must be in the high idle position when going from step 1 to
step 2)

Blink code 6 Signal from throttle control lever is out of tolerance in the low idle
position. (Must be in the low idle position when going from step 2 to
step 3)

Blink code 7 The RPM regulation distance between steps in step 3 of teach-in are too
large (More than 100 Rpm’s). Possible faults could be play in the
linkage, Linkage sticking or friction on the VDO positioning-motor.

Blink code 8 CEB box is defective – replace the CEB box

Blink code 9 No teach in (Perform Teach-in)
