1 PTC CREO
PTC Creo is product of Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC) which established in 1985.The first
version of Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 5.0 launched in 1987 but properly used in 1988. P. Gishberg
(Peisakhovich Gishberg ) who work for Prime Computer becomes first user of Pro E. John Deere
Becomes first customer of PTC Creo.
Pro E V1
Pro E V2
Pro E V3
Pro E V4
Pro E V5 (becomes PTC Creo V1)
PTC Creo V2
PTC Creo V3 (Latest)

It is best for Part Modeling. It can perform 2D \3D sketching, part modeling, sheet metal work, much
complex assembly, simulation and surfacing.
“It is 3D modeling, parametric, bidirectional, associative & feature based CAD application.”

1.1 3D Modeling

 It can easily create solid 3D models which have shape, size and density.
 These solid models have Volumes and surface areas.
 We can easily calculate its mass and volume property from geometry.
1.2 Parametric

 The term parametric driven by parameter or variable dimension.

 These dimensions are co-related or driving dimension and based on relation due to this if we
modify individual component then its relative component automatically modify him.
 So we can easily change and control it dimension, temperature and density.

1.3 Bidirectional

It means if we need any modification after design work completed then we can easily modify it from
sketcher or drawing detailing location and its entire relative component itself adjust according to it
since it is parametric. This improves overall accuracy of product and reduces chances of error.

1.4 Associative & Feature-based

The term associative signifies that when changes are made at certain level they relatively propagate
to all level. Each assembly is made up of number of individual parts and all parts have individual
elements. These elements called feature.

Each element has operation such as extrude, pocket, holes, loft, fillet and chamfer are
considered as feature-based which are directly applied to work piece. These can be easily understood
and controlled.

4 CONSTRAINS

4.1 Geometrical Constrain

Vertical, horizontal, perpendicular, tangent, midpoint, coincident or collinear, symmetric,

Note: There is no rectangular or polar array in 2D sketcher. To perform array type function, we
have to use MIRROR command.

equal, parallel.

4.2 Dimensional Constrain

Normal (it can perform all type of constrain like shape, size, position and orientation)

5 PART DESIGN
Model Properties:
File/Prepare/Model Properties
It is used to change the material, unit, relation, parameter etc.
Make sure use modeling unit in mm (ISO Third Angel of Projection).

6 SOME IMPORTANT SHORTCUT

Key Combination Use

Ctrl + d Default orientation of plane
Ctrl + MMB Zoom about a fix point (Pointer
location)
Mouse wheel Up & down Zoom in /out about center
Alt + MMB Rotate about a fix point (Pointer
location)
MMB and side drag Rotate about origin

7 DATUM PLANE
It is used for extra sketch support or reference as plane.

Type Selection
Through 3 point 3 corner or three point
1 Point ,1 line (most used) 1 point or corner + 1 edge or line.
Two line 2 line or edge
Parallel Flat surface or plane
Offset (most used) 1 flat surface or plane + distance value.
Rotational offset (most used) 1 flat surface or plane + 1 edge or line + angel
value
Tangent (most used) 1 cylindrical surface + 1 point
