 Aan rhoades the vice president of southwest airlines is winding up


with a 17 hr shift , to be ready for a a meeting that is scheduled
next day with the top 9 executives of southwest. Agenda being the
competitive strategy of southwest , as a new name called united
and continental has entered the market where south west is at its
top for low prices.
 The competitive advantage is alwys related to the people .. and
how the people manage the company.
 Light over swot analysis with this new competition ..tht has entere
the market.

THE STRATEGY OF SOUTHWEST AIRLINES

 An articales in the magazine explains that, this is turned into a talk


of the town. And that both the brands of airlines in the low price
market with compete against each for its best strategy. Where the
united and continental have decide to have an airline with airline
strategy.
 The strategy where the united and continental would offer low
fare frequent services to customers and few flights. ( the new
operations are unbashed modeled after southwest the pioneer
of this strategy and keeper of the healthiest balancesheet in the
industry).

 Earlier the southwest airlines used ( in the early days …..strategy )


ADVERTISING STRATEGY ALONG WITH THE LOW COST STRATEGY.
 The next basic part of southwest’s strategy .. that is the grabbed the
opportunity when growing in the market along with other
accompanies like Us air and pacific south west air (PSA). While
these two companies were trying to come up and build their
reputation in the market rather failed to do so ..hence southwest
here seizes this opportunity to expand over california , which
turned out to be a profitable decision and southwest becoming the
leading airline in passenger boarding.
 The main strategy that southwest has always been following all
along these years is – low costs, low fares, and frequent flights.
Rather simple fares. The company mainly focuses on attracting trice
the of the customers of what they attract initially by its low pricing
policy.
 Another point in the strategy includes the point to point strategy
which mean southwest flights donot have a central hub which
means the passengers fly directly to the their destination. The point
point strategy is abenefit in way as the avoids the delays in flights,
making it like a short hual trip for the passengers.
