The Author and the Historian

Historiography or the study of historical writings, helps historians look into the
author’s motives and inclinations, including his or her biases. The mind behind the pen
may show a self-serving or altruistic person. Historiography or the study of historical literature

pinifavor ng isang author and the person behind that pen can be both selfish or selfless.

The historian has evolved from being a mere chronicler to being the conscience of the times.
Chronicle is the record of the historical events and then the chronicler is the recorder of the
historical events. So sabi dito, ung historian nag made sya ng practice na from being mere
chronicler or recorder then the voice of the people. The voice of the people kasi hindi na lng sya
basta basta nag rerecord from historical events kundi sinesense nya na rin kung ano ung tama
at mali so it means, example ung room namin dito is punong puno sya ng mga books na about
sa historical events, hindi ko sya iinclude lahat sa record ko kundi pipiliin ko lng kung ano ung
tamang iinclude at ung hindi tamang iinclude.

The author or creator of the source may have political, social, and religious beliefs not similar to
majority of the populace. As citizens, they may belong to different factions of the times, like the
“Pro” and “Anti” during the Common wealth period. As such discussions will tend to deal with
prevailing issues of society. Sabi dito ung author or ung creator ng isang source they hold the
political ideas, social ideas, and religious ideas naiiba sa mojurity of the people dahil nga sa
pagkakaiba ng author, population ng ideas ung mga citizens they can be both a member of
“pro” and “anti” during the commonwealth period. So, as the result ung nagiging topics nila sa
mga conversations, discussions or debate nila will most likely include the current societal issues
or problems.
Tracing the chronological development of the Filipino race from early periods to the present
times requires focusing not only on the political, social and cultural influences that shape the
times but also its influence on the author and the creator of history. Sabi dito when tracing the

lived, and the author’s background, motive for writing and the influences on his or her life. Sabi

that author dapat hindi nya iniinvolve ung personal feelings nya or even hindi dapat sya against
sa kung ano mang circumstances ung malalaman nya sa buhay ng author na yun. The way the
author lives, paano sya mamuhay, kung ano history nya as an author, ano ung motivation nya
for writing, even ano ung nag iimpluwensya sa buhay nya, don ka lng. As a researcher u should
be a researcher. Sa madaling salita, you should not cross the line, kung ano ung dapat mong
malaman or alamin don ka lng.
