ACTIVITY 1: The Meaning of History and Sources of Historical Data

DIRECTIONS: Give a concise explanation on the following items.

1. How important historical writings are to a person, group/race, and country? Explain.
 For a person, a group or race, and a country, historical writings are vital. These
writings are the key to comprehending our history. Our current sense of self, beliefs,
faiths, and ideologies are all a result of our history. As a result, historical writings are
critical and must be based only on facts.
2. Discuss the importance of historical analysis.
 By conducting historical analysis, we can examine evidence in order to gain a better
knowledge of our past. We can also comprehend the facts as to why things occur as
they do. We can also have conclusions and an accurate statement about what
happened in our past.

3. What do you think is the importance of relics/artifacts for the researchers as a clue of the
past?
 Archaeologists investigate ancient cultures' homes and use items discovered there
to learn about the past. Because many ancient cultures had a written language or did
not actively preserve their history, artifacts are often the only evidence of how people
lived.
4. Differentiate and compare the primary and secondary sources using the "venn diagram".
