PBL (PROJECT BASED LEARNING) - PBL

CHEMISTRY KSSM FORM 4 ,2021

Theme 1.Interaction Between Matter

Learning Area Chapter 6 : Acids, Bases and Salts
Content Standard 6.2 pH value
Learning Standard 6.2.3: To study relationship between pH value and
concentration of hydrogen ion and hydroxide ion.
Project Preparing self pH indicator
Duration 2 weeks
Date of submission 14 September 2021
Teacher Pn.Mulalikody / Pn.Siti Norokiah
Class 4 J,O,H

Introduction:
Students should carry out an activity to determine the pH value of various ingredients in daily
life such as soapy water, carbonated beverages, coffee, ‘teh tarik’, lemon juice, and so on. You
need a pH indicator to identify those ingredients whether they are acidic, alkaline or neutral.
Other than the pH indicators available in chemical laboratories, you need prepare your own pH
indicators using natural ingredients.

Objectives:
Understand and appreciate the importance of the use of chemicals in daily life, especially
involving ionic compounds as well as covalent compounds. Most substances found in daily life
contain acids or alkaline. Determining the pH value can be determined by providing own pH
indicator and can be carried out at homes.
