pH indicator is a substance which is added in a small amount to a solution so that the acidity
or alkalinity of the solution can be determined. pH indicator shows one colour when added to
an acidic solution and a different colour when added to an alkaline solution. Various
colouring materials in plants can act as indicators.

In this project, you need to produce a natural indicator from plants. Use the indicator that you
have produced to determine the acidity or alkalinity of the following items:

Soap water Orange juice Hair shampoo


Tap water Carbonated drink Milk

Your report must include:


1. Aim of experiment

3. Procedure
4. Tabulation of data
5. Discussion
6. Conclusion
7. Appendix (References, pictures)
