Reflective Journal:

According to Roy T. Bennett “Live the Life of Your Dreams: Be brave enough to
live the life of your dreams according to your vision and purpose instead of the
expectations and opinions of others.” I’ve always believed in that saying no matter what
people said about you, always be brave enough. So, if you truly want to live the life of
your dreams you need to stop distracting yourself from others, and focus on what you
were created to do. So, as a student, I will be able to create my own opportunities to
build myself as a student and to bring encouragement, engage, and equip others to
believe possibilities. I will strive more and do all my best for my future. And I will behave
in a matter to be a successful man, through listening and serving others. I will learn new
ideas and gain different perspective to pursuit my excellence.

First, I felt sad because I wasn’t able to see my professor in Microsoft Teams,
because I changed my course from Bachelor of Science in Information Technology to
Bachelor of Applied Science Major in Laboratory Technology. I randomly felt nervous
and excitement on that time. Maybe because I have no any idea on what will be our
task and our following requirements to pass in this subject.

Second my fellow classmates gave me the activities of characteristics of life, we

have to answered the module 1 that our professor gave as an activity, and that activity
is all about characteristics of life, the characteristics of life is all living organisms share
several key characteristics or functions: order, sensitivity or response to
the environment, reproduction, growth and development, regulation, homeostasis, and
energy processing. When viewed together, these characteristics serve to define life. I
also analyse the picture shown on the module 1, with the use of characteristics of life
we easily determine how a living thing form.
Lastly, I was able to complete the concept map by writing all the living organisms, to
identify the correct organisms to their corresponding classification group. In this case,
we have prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Prokaryotes are unicellular organisms that lack
organelles or other internal membrane-bound structures. Therefore, they do not have a
nucleus, but, instead, generally have a single chromosome: a piece of circular, double-
stranded DNA located in an area of the cell called the nucleoid, while Eukaryotic
cells are cells that contain a nucleus and organelles, and are enclosed by a plasma
membrane. Organisms that have eukaryotic cells include protozoa, fungi, plants and
animals. These two domains have a primary distinction between these two types of
organism is that eukaryotic cells have a membrane bound nucleus while prokaryotic cell
don’t have.

In my point of view, biology is really an important thing for us to help us to

understand the living world and the ways its many species (including humans) function,
evolve, and interact. Advances in medicine, agriculture, biotechnology, and many other
areas, biology have brought improvements in the quality of our life.
