 1. Crushing Test
For: (Strength)
• Size of Aggregate : 10 to 12 mm
• No. of Layers : 3
• Rate of Loading : 4 tons/min. upto 10 min.
• Sieve Size : 2.36 mm
• W1 = Total wt. of aggregate
• W2 = Wt. of aggregate passing through
2.36 mm sieve.
• ACV = (W2 / W1) x 100
• ACV ≤ 30% (For Surface Layer)
• ACV ≤ 35% (For Base Layer)
 2. Impact Test
For (Toughness)
• Size of aggregate : 10 to 12 mm
• Wt. of hammer : 13.5 to 14.5 KG
• Ht. of fall : 38 cm
• No. of blows : 15
• AIV = (W1/W2)x100
• AIV ≤ 30%
• AIV ≤ 35%
 3. Abrasion test
• It is used to measured Wear & Tear action.
• Rubbing between aggregate & Steel wall.
• Rubbing between Aggregate to aggregate.
• Equipment Used: Los Angeles Test
• No. of Revolution : 33 to 500 rpm
• W1 = Total wt. of aggregate
• W2 = Wt. of aggregate passing through
1.7 mm sieve.
• AV = (W2/W1) x 100
• AV ≤ 30 % (For Surface Layer)
• AV ≤ 35 % (For Base Layer)
 4.Sound test

• Allow the aggregate to sock for 10 to 16 hr.

& heated in Oven dry at 105 degree.
• Repeat this cycle 10 times.
• % loss of weight should not be more than
12% when Na2SO4 is used.
• Should not be grater then 18 % when
Mgso4 is used.
 5.Shape Test

• Size of aggregate more then 6.3 mm.
• F.I. = (W2/W1) x 100
• W1 = Total wt. of aggregate
• W2 = Wt. of aggregate passing through
0.6 d mean Stip.

• E.I. = (W2/W1) x 100
