Is the motivation to migrate from the rural areas to the city generally the same as the
motivation to work overseas? Discuss some of the possible differences in the variables
that explain migration in these two cases.

In general, Yes, they have the same motivation why they are moving from one place to
another and it is because of a high-paid job (related to unemployment) which can give a better
quality of life (poverty). People move from rural areas to urban areas is because of low-income
from the job they had which can't sustain their daily needs in rural areas and this is also the
reason why they are being encourage to transfer to the city because there are many job
opportunities for them which offers a high-income. The same as the motivation of overseas
worker to migrate because they want to provide the needs of their family and they also know that
working to richer country than their own country would give them a higher income. However,
that was in general but in specific, there are some differences between these variables which can
distinguish their motivation.

First, geographical and physical factors, natural calamities are one of the reasons why
people from rural areas move to urban places (Mondal, n.d). Some rural areas are prone from
calamities and they don’t have the capacity to recover easily from it therefore some residents
move to avoid any harm cause from the natural disaster. However, the motivation of overseas
workers doesn't affect the geographical and physical factors because most of the countries
experience a different season, climate and natural disaster which is being ignored by overseas
worker since they migrated because of one reason which is to earn money so they are adjusting
to the new environment. Second, socio-political factors, people from rural areas pushes them to
transfer is because of their strong traditional which resulted in a strict rules they must follow
while when they move to city, they have a freedom to enjoy whatever they want to do. This case
is not the same as with overseas workers because when they move to another country they have
their own rules and regulation that people must follow so whether they like it or not the only
choice is to follow their rules to continue the migration in this country.
