AR DESIGN 07 - COMMUNITY ARCHITECTURE & URBAN DESIGN

____________________________________________________________________________

I - DESIGN PROBLEM:

PNR NORTHLINE SUBWAY TERMINAL (Catbangen City of San Fernando La Union)

II - BACKGROUND

The rehabilitation of the 262.73km. North line of the PNR is one of the Northquad
transportation focus. The line stretches from Manila City to San Fernando City, and has a kilometer
branch line from Tarlac City to Urdaneta City.
The PNR general manager said that approximately $100 million dollars is needed to extend
the lines to La Union - the only link to the North. The money will come from Japan's concessional
loans to provide the hi-tech HI-SPEED TRAINS for its use. Japan will be investing through the
BOT-Build-Operate-Transfer Agreement. The new Two-Lanes will be used by commuters and the
two others for Cargo purposes. There are places in the north which cannot be reached by Cargo
trucks and sending cargo through the Railways is also faster and cheaper.

THE PLANNING APPROACH:

GROUND LEVEL - Administrative, Ticketing, Fastfoods, etc.
SUBWAY LEVEL - Arrival and Departure Activities

THE SITE:
The project will be located at the original PNR site in Catbangan. The railway, however,
shall be concealed down to a SUBWAY/TUNNEL Terminal. (see attached lot plan)

III - REQUIREMENTS
- All Drawings shall be drawn on a pre-cut tracing paper (24”x36”) on a pencil (delineation)
- Outputs using AutoCad should be plotted in A3 sheet PDF file.
- Perspective drawings shall be rendered in pencil.
- Use convenient scale. Make sure that the drawings, texts and symbols are readable.
