Prayers of the Faithful

Priest’s Invitation
Brothers and sisters, gathered as one family to give thanks for the
life and holiness of St. John Paul the Second, let us offer our
prayers to him, and open wide our hearts to Christ.
R. Lord, save your people.
1. FOR THE CHURCH: that she may continue to reveal Christ as the
hope of the nations and the sole redeemer of the human race. Let
us pray to the Lord. R.
2. FOR THE HOLY FATHER, BISHOPS, AND PRIESTS: that they may
be more faithful in their ministry through the celebration of the
liturgy and the exercise of pastoral charity. Let us pray to the Lord.
R.
3. FOR LOCAL, NATIONAL AND WORLD LEADERS: that they may
enact laws which promote and uphold the dignity of the family,
and every life which blossoms from it. Let us pray to the Lord. R.
4. FOR YOUNG PEOPLE: that they may never be afraid to open wide
their hearts to Christ and to create a better future for the Church
and for the modern world. Let us pray to the Lord. R.
5. FOR THE SICK, SUFFERING AND OPPRESSED: that they may find
meaning in their trials by uniting it with the redemptive suffering
and victory of Christ on the Cross. Let us pray to the Lord. R.
Priest’s Prayer
May the petitions of your Church be pleasing in your sight, O
Lord, and through St. John Paul the Second, may we obtain the
grace to care for our brothers and sisters and to lead them unto
your Father’s house where you live and reign forever and ever.
