FREE PATTERN: Bow Buckle Mary Janes

New free crochet pattern for you guys! It has been way too long
since I posted one last (my goods shop has been keeping me plenty busy :), and I felt the urge to design a few days
ago. So here it is! The Bow Buckle Mary Janes :)

These cuties are fast and easy to make, and very practical, too! Take a classic Mary Jane style shoe, add a bow
instead of a button - and how cute is the result?

This pattern makes a shoe approximately 4" long (about 3-6 month size). You could always go up a yarn
weight/hook size to adapt this pattern for larger sizes . . . or if you ask I might be able to come up with a pattern for a
larger size :)

 Materials:
50 yards worsted weight yarn for Color A (I used Red Heart Soft in Off White)
50 yards worsted weight yarn for Color B (I used Red Heart Soft in Deep Sea)
F (3.75mm) crochet hook
E (3.5mm) crochet hook
Tapestry needle (to weave in ends)
Scissors

Stitch Abbreviations:
Ch - chain
Sc - single crochet
Hdc - Half double crochet
Dc - double crochet
Ss - slip stitch
Sc2tog - single crochet 2 together
Hdc2tog - half double crochet 2 together
Dc2tog - double crochet 2 together

Notes

 Stitch counts will be in { } at the end of each round. To determine the stitch count, start counting in the next
stitch. Count around the shoe, ending with the slip stitch you just made.
 When you see parenthesis ( ) in the pattern, repeat whatever is in the parenthesis the number of times
indicated. For instance "(2sc in next, sc in next) 2 times" means "2sc in next, sc in next, 2sc in next, sc in
next".
 The first stitch of each round after round 1 is placed in the stitch you just slip stitched into.

Stitch Explanations
Sc2tog - insert hook into indicated stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook), insert hook into next stitch,
yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on hook.
Hdc2tog: Yarn over, insert hook into indicated stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over,
insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (5 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through all 5 loops on
hook.
Dc2tog: Yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, (2
loops on hook), yarn over and insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2
loops (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on hook.

Working in Third Loops

In round 4 of the pattern, the pattern will say "Work this entire round in the third loops of the hdc's of the previous
round". The third loop is the extra loop behind each hdc. In the first picture below, my hook is inserted into the two
normal hdc loops. You can see the extra loop below it. In the second picture, my hook is inserted in the third loop,
behind the two normal hdc loops. Round 4 is worked only in these third loops. This leaves the two normal hdc loops
visible, creating a clean edge around the shoes.
If this is too confusing, you can just work in the back loops for round 4 :)

Pattern
1. Ch12, 2sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 5, hdc in next 4, 5hdc in last stitch. Turn so you are working in the
backside of chains. (See first picture below) Hdc in next 4, sc in next 5, 2sc in last, join with ss to first sc. {27

Fasten off, weave in ends.

4. Work this entire round in the third loops of the hdc's of the previous round. See section "Working in the
third loops" above.
Join Color B in the third loop of the stitch that you just made (it will be a slip stitch. See first photo below). Ch1, sc

Hoping to get some more free patterns out soon! Any ideas? My goods shop on Etsy (where I sell crocheted slippers
and baby booties) has been occupying most of my crochet time, but I do miss creating my own patterns. But for
now . . . enjoy the Bow Buckle Mary Janes!

FREE PATTERN: Bow Baby Booties

I've been wanting to make some baby booties to put up on my etsy shop, so I looked around and found some
patterns, but none of them were quite what I was looking for. So I made up my own and
attached a cute little bow to it!

Here's the pattern:

Materials:
US G (4 mm) crochet hook
Worsted weight yarn (I used Vanna's Choice, but any WW yarn will work)
Tapestry needle

Special Stitches:
sc-2-tog - (insert hook into next stitch, pull up a loop) 2 times, yarn over and pull hook through all 3 loops
dc-2-tog - (yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops) 2
times, yarn over, pull through all 3 loops on hook.
dc-3-tog - (yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops) 3
times, yarn over and pull through all 4 loops on hook.

Stitch Abbreviations
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
sl st - slip stitch
sc-2-tog (see above)
dc-2-tog (see above)
dc-3-tog (see above)

Boots (make 2)
Chain 11.
1. Hdc in 2nd chain from hook and and next 8, 3 hdc in last, (working in backside of chains), hdc  in next 8, 2 hdc in
last, sl st to 1st hdc.
2. Ch 2, hdc in same stitch as joining, hdc in next 8, 2 hdc in next 3, hdc in next 8, 2 hdc in next 2, sl st to ch-2 space.
3. Ch 2, hdc in same, 2 hdc in next, hdc in next 8, 2 hdc in next 7, hdc in next 10, 2 hdc in next 2, sl st to ch-2 space.
4. (back loops only) Ch 2, hdc in each stitch around, sl st to ch-2 space.
5. Ch 1, sc in next 9, sc-2-tog, dc-2-tog, dc in next, dc-3-tog, dc in next, dc-2-tog 2 times, sc-2-tog, sc around, sl st to
first sc.
6. Ch 1, sc in same and next 8, sc-2-tog, dc-2-tog 2 times, sc-2-tog, sc around, sl st to first sc.
7. Ch 1, sc in same and next 6, sc-2-tog, dc-2-tog 2 times, sc-2-tog, sc around, sl st to first sc.
8-11. Ch 1, sc in same and each stitch around, sl st to first sc.

For a taller boot, repeat the last row as many times as you need to. Fasten off, weave in ends.

Bows (make 2)
Chain 21
1. Sc in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across.
2-4. Ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch across

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Fold the rectangle in half and, using the long tail that you left, stitch all the way
around the bow so that you have a smaller rectangle. Then cut a long piece of yarn and wrap it around the middle of
the rectangle tightly.

Sew the bow onto your boot and you're done! Mine ended up about 4" long and 2 1/4" inches wide, without
stretching, which would probably fit a 3-6 month baby. You could use a smaller or larger hook to get a slightly
smaller or larger shoe. I also have a pattern for a larger size of these booties here.

Love the baby booties but don't want to make them yourself? Buy them here.

If you make a pair, I would love to see pictures! You can post them on your blog (if you include a link, you get a
coupon to my etsy store, jaysboutique!) or you can post a picture on ravelry.

I hope you enjoy this free pattern! Please don't sell the pattern itself, but you are welcome to sell items made from
this pattern. If selling online, please credit my shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/jkwatson?ref=si_shop . Thanks!
