Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK in Candyfloss, Fondant, White, Spring Green and Powder Pink. (Small amount of Fuchsia Purple). This pattern is written is US terms US Terminology UK Terminology SC – single crochet DC DC – double crochet TR SLST – slip stitch ST - stitch MR – magic ring CH – chain ( ) – indicate all stitches to be made in one stitch. Gauge is 17 stitches x 10 rows = 10cm. (Rows of DC). Square measures 15cm x 15cm
Block Granny Square
1. Use POWDER PINK. In a MR, CH5 (Counts as 1st DC and CH2). In ring make (3DC, CH2) three times. Then 2DC and SLST into the 3rd ST of the CH5. (4 sides of 3DC with CH2 between). 2. SLST twice into the previous round CH2 space. CH5, then 2DC in the same CH2 space. Make 1DCin each ST around with (2DC, CH2, 2DC) into the corner spaces. Finish with 1DC in the last corner and SLST into the 3rd ST of your beginning CH5. (4 sides of 7DC with CH2 in each corner) 3. to 7. Repeat Row 2. Making 1DC into each ST with (2DC, CH2, 2DC) into each corner. SLST in 3rd ST of beginning CH5 to join. Fasten off yarn. (Row 7 – each side has 27 stitches with CH2 in each corner)
4 Petal Flower - Make 6 in FONDANT and 3 in CANDYFLOSS
1. In a MR make 8SC. SLST to 1st SC to join. (8 stitches). 2. * (CH3, 3DC, CH3, SLST), skip the next ST. SLST into the next ST and repeat from *. SLST into 1st CH of beginning CH3 to join. Fasten off leaving a long tail. (4 petals made).
Flower Centre - Make 9 in WHITE
1. In a MR make 4SC. SLST to 1st SC to join. Fasten off leaving a long tail. Sew the tail end through the loops of the stitches so the middle lifts out. Sew centre into the middle of the flower. 2. Sew flowers onto granny square as in photo (top of the petals on top row touching Row 6 of the square).
Flower Stems - Make 3 using SPRING GREEN
1. CH15. Fasten off. Sew onto square with the right side of the chain showing. Using the top end to secure the stem under the centre of the flower. And the bottom tail securing the end of the stem. Cross left and right stems over. 2. Using a long strand of FUCHSIA PURPLE. Sew under the 3 stems and through the top loop of the granny square. Repeat this twice. Tie a double bow to secure in place.
