THESIS PROPOSAL

GENERAL SUBJECT AREA: Filtration

SPECIFIC AREA OF INTEREST: Drainage Basin Management System

Working Title: Efficiency of Automatic Extraction Process of FOG’s in Grease Trap.

I. INTRODUCTION

II. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study will help the community to be enhance their environment

awareness when it comes to water pollution. For the researchers, it will help to

promote and support proper waste management for the environment protection

and health of every individual. It will allow the researchers to enhance the

knowledge of creating the grease trap with automatic extracting system. For

the future researchers, the design and study of grease trap with automatic

extracting system could help in the continuous development related to waste

management, mechanical option, and automation.

III. OBJECTIVES
General Objective

- To design and fabricate a grease trap that has an automatic extraction

system that can remove the fat, oils, and grease (FOG) without hassle.

Specific Objective

- To determine the parameters to be used in the design and fabrication

process of a grease trap with an automatic extraction system.

- To evaluate the performance of the grease trap using direct relationship

between how efficient a grease trap is and the amount of grease inside the

system.

Methodology

As greasy water enters the unit, it flows through the screen basket. The

wastewater enters the grease storage area. The collected grease in a liquid state
stays in storage area. The Disk skimmer, an electrically powered device that

operates on a time or event-controlled basis, skims the liquified grease off the

wastewater’s surface. Grease adheres to the rotating plastic disc until it passes

between scraper blades. The skimmed grease is directed into a steeply sloped

trough and drained through a conduit into a disposal container or barrel and

recovered for proper grease recycling. Water will enter into the second skims,

the removable screen basket separates and contains food scraps and solids then

the water automatically flows to the drainage.
