ICT Reflection Paper

As a Grade 11 STEM Student, ICT is one of the most crucial tools to help students
continue learning even amidst the pandemic. The existence of ICT helps us
humans to communicate with other people from all over the world in merely an
instant and because of this technology it has been integrated to other means of
communication as well, like online classes. Without ICT, online classes would’ve
been impossible to conduct and students would have a harder time trying to learn
from their homes. ICT isn’t just for online classes, other examples of ICT are
software applications, operating systems, and much more, these tools help improve
the quality of our life. For us humans ICT is commonly used in our everyday lives,
simply going on to Facebook and messaging our friends is already an example of
using ICT. The way I use ICT in my everyday life is simply for researching out
info, i.e., when I want to learn more things about a game, I do my research and try
to learn from the info I can get from the internet. Another way I use ICT is for
messaging friends on Facebook on a daily basis. If I would simply the meaning of
ICT, I would describe it as making our work easier and faster without any
drawbacks. It also causes us to have more free time because when our work is
finished earlier and faster, we get more time to spend on other things. ICT really
brings out the efficiency of people who know how to use it well.

In my strand and chosen course in college, it will focus on technology because I

plan to take Computer Science. ICT and Comp Sci are very connected to each
other because it will also study on how digital information will be communicated.
Another form of connection they have is computer scientist pave the way for
information technology professionals to establish an operating communication
system. ICT also benefits the studying of computer science because without
information, further studies cannot be passed on to students and improved.
Meanwhile in our society, ICT is very used, the most common form of its usage
right now is online shopping but there are other popular usages of ICT as well right
now, like banking, education, security, entertainment and many more. All of these
factors are improved by ICT itself because in banking it improves security, in
security it allows a larger storage of databases and for education it provides data
like a library but is more convenient because it can be accessed anytime as long as
you have internet. Simply put, ICT has allowed our society to have a more
 advanced system of transactions, security and many more. What’s more is society
is still continuing to adapt to the advancement of ICT, it almost seems like ICT is
inevitable at this point. This kind of observation can be used to prepare yourself for
the future, start to be familiar with how you use the internet and technology. We
are headed to the future of technology and we must be prepared and ready to adapt.
