ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The Researchers would like to express their utmost gratitude to the

students of Christ the King College. For without the knowledge of their recurrent

cases of trouble making the inspiration for the said study would have not been

made.

To the Respondents who took a few minutes of their precious time to

ponder upon their questions and gave an ounce of their trust by answering

them, they are inclined to believe that without you, no usable data would have

been gathered and that a thanks is in order.

To be able to conduct a study, the Researchers must have to have been

guided carefully, objectively, and accordingly. All of this they were able to

experience under the hand or their mentor, Mr. Nheru B. Velaflor. Who, if under

certain circumstances was not present to give constructive and helpful criticism,

the outcome of their research would not have turned up as successfully as it

had.

Finally, to the one who’s been watching them and guiding

them to a better future, they would like to thank God the Almighty Father for

being an ever present companion throughout their lives and that all their

glory be dedicated to his will.

CHAPTER 1

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

Discipline can be seen as a contemporary issue, which is starting to trends in

numerous parts of the World. One noteworthy issue of concern is that

indiscipline in educational institution does not separate, basically rising above

the limits of boundary of gender, class and race. The effect has suggestions for

educational institutions; teachers have less time to convey educating so as to

successfully 'oversee' classroom interruption, just as face other related issues.

It has turned into a gigantic worry among instructors, strategy creators and

people in general all in all, attributable to the episode of forcefulness among

companions, savagery inside educator understudy relationship and vandalism.

Inspite of the various endeavors made by the stakeholders, the issue appears

not to subside. The reason for this examination was to research whether

standards and controls affect student’s discipline.

Research targets and Research questions were created and writing identified

with this examination was inspected from books, magazines, diaries web and

from past research work conveyed by understudies and scientists. Hypothetical

and theoretical structure was incorporated to improve factors which decide

discipline and their consequences for student’s discipline in specialized

foundations. The essential information was gathered by utilizing research

instruments essentially polls which comprised of open and shut finished

inquiries. Perception agenda was additionally used to enhance polls.

Information was dissected utilizing subjective and quantitative strategy with the

guide of measurable bundle for sociologies (SPSS) which was then revealed.

The real discoveries of the examination were that all the specialized

foundations encountered some dimension of indiscipline among students. The

examination uncovered that there were progressively male contrasted with

female respondents. Both organization and scholastic staffs were observed to

be exceptionally prepared unit of experts 38% of Teachers had aces and 22%

Bachelor certificate. The majority of the Principals had filled in as either

Teachers, Head of Departments or Deputy Principals. The larger part was

developed and had long working knowledge. This showed their potential in

taking care of control in specialized organizations. Different reasons for

indiscipline which included friend’s pressure, societal and family foundation

where guardians do not assume their jobs in the control of their youngsters.

The investigation suggested among others, the requirement for open entryway

approach where matters to do with order and other related issues could be

conveyed to the executive’s considerations. The job of scholarly staff likewise

should have been improved. The investigation additionally given

recommendation to additionally research and they included among others a

replication of this examination utilizing the meeting as an alternate instrument

with principals, scholarly staffs and understudies to be finished. A nationwide

investigation of indiscipline among understudies in all center dimension tertiary

establishments in the general population segment ought to likewise be done.

Statement of the Problem

CHAPTER 2

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

This chapter deals with related literature or studies the Impact of school

rules and regulation in Junior High School Department students enhancing

knowledge, understanding and experiences of a student. This presents the idea

of who are the users of this topic.

Effectiveness of rules and regulation

The effectiveness of rules and regulations is the relationship

between school resources and student achievement (Schmitt & Ostroff, 2017).

It focuses on the relationship between different characteristics of organizations.

It includes the source of inputs, context, rules & regulation, goals, climates,

informal system, the effectiveness and the efficiency or organizations. Reads

(2013) states that the students are engaged and achieve the intended learning

objectives. It means that the students must occupy the intended learning that

was set for each and every one. They must achieve various learnings from the

rules that has been implemented by the school. They must also achieve the

objective that is needed from a specific rule and regulation. The effects should

be observed by the students for them to strengthen their different skills.

According to Wong (2009) policies are very important because it can

establish rules and procedures and create standards for learning and safety.

By means that every policy can help a school improve the learning of each and

every student. It creates standards for learning and safety which is very

important for a particular student. Without these policies a particular school

would lack the structures and functions to provide many educational needs of

each and every student.

Categories of Administrative School Penalties

Penalties that keep discipline, the most effective way of keeping good

behavior and disciplining students is to apply certain penalties on disobedience

of the students. There are three (3) classification of penalties on suspension to

which the students may give depending on the misdemeanor of students and

the disobeying of school rules and regulations on the school campus (CKC,

2019), on which There are certain levels of offenses that can cause the school’s

administration to give penalties to the students, these offenses are classified

unto three (3) different classifications depending on the disobeyed rule:

Class A – Offenses subject to dismissal or suspension, the

misdemeanor of the students may lead to this penalty, this is classified as the

most serious offense.

Class B – Offenses subject to suspension of three to five (3 to 5) school

days, the misbehavior of the students and causing of trouble may lead to this

penalty.

Class C – Offenses classified as less serious offense subject to extra

work or one (1) to two (2) school days suspension.

These are also three (3) categories Administrative Penalties which

are: Suspension, Exclusion, and Expulsion (CKC, 2019). Suspension to which

the school has the right to reject a disobedient student of attendance in classes,

Exclusion gives the school the right to preclude or drop the disobedient student

from the school rolls for being undesirable, the transfer credentials immediately

issued. The student is precluded during the same school year or term he / she

is found guilty of a serious violation of school rules. Expulsion is the most

serious penalty the school can give to a student, it gives the school the right to
debar disobedient students from all public and private schools in the country,

which authorization from Department of Education Dep ED.

Suspension

It is when a person is put under disciplinary measure for a certain

period of time may it be in work or school primaries due to one’s behavior or

misconduct. A suspension can only last up to 10 days. A student may be

expelled if he / she breaks a school rule of school grounds in a way that disrupts

or prevents other students from learning (CKC, 2019).

Exclusion

Is a punishment in which the school is allowed to ban or drop the

name of the erring student from the school rolls for being unwanted, the transfer

credits immediately issued? The students are excluded during the same year

or term he/ she is found guilty of a serious breach of school rules. This is often

thought into be synonymous, with “non – readmission “because the latter allows

a student to complete his / her course, while the former takes immediate effect

and prevents the students from finishing the term. Although there are same

Grounds for both punishments, academic lack and the failure of the subject are

further reasons for refusing to re – admit a student – but not excluding.

Furthermore, even if both punishments are legally applied, they do not

disqualify the student from being accepted into another schools, nor explain the

penalizing school in with holding his/her transfer credentials (CKC, 2019).

Expulsion
Is an enormous administrative sanction debarring offending

students from all public or private schools in the Philippines? It is the most

critical available to school. Expulsion means that school board decided that a

student cannot go to school, school function, or on school properly for more

than 10 school days or up to a year. A student can be expelled by having a gun

or dangerous weapon on the school grounds. And having drugs (selling or

giving away) if a student is expelled, they have a constitutional right to “due

process “this means a right to be notified of the recommendation to expel, and

given an opportunity to be heard by the people making the decision on whether

or not to expel (CKC, 2019).

Rules that keep Discipline

Discipline in school life is a very serious topic which the students

encounter on their everyday performance at school. An experience that can’t

be forgotten by a student. This chapter classify the headings; Relevant rules

that keeps discipline in junior high school department.

This is frequently given to the fact that a student are viewed as

minors, youthful and lacking in the experience of knowledge and understanding

one’s difficulty. It is also used to all types of aspects of school life and in decision

making where some of the students make an idea to conform to the contents

of others.

In school education, discipline is a set of rules and regulations that

remind us of the proper code and behavior of an educated learners (Sharma,

2017).
This is a vital role in achieving some goals in life. Many youths had

experienced an incapable discipline in their schools. This is the dearth of

discipline which had affected the students learning cycle and develop learning

in school. Discipline brings stability and structure into a person’s life. If there

were no discipline, people would do whatever they wanted and make mistakes

without putting some consideration on that work. (Fern, 2013).

No ID, No Entry Policy, Attendance, Tattoo, and Vandalism are the

examples of the general rules.

Student Behavior

School is the preparation ground of any individual formally selected to

exceed expectations academically and for self-restraint to improve as a person.

Schools give the rules as disciplinary measures for understudies and for

educator supervisions. No school is exempted from student violators, every

school experiences the trouble in school discipline. Teachers and parents are

associates in teaching the violators(Geoffrey, 2019). There are various reasons

why students obey and violate rules and regulation.

Reasons for Students Obeying Rules and Regulation

Personal safety, rules are intended to protect you. Specific rules like

"No students permitted on grounds after dull" are made to secure against

threats. When you pursue the guidelines at school, you exhibit a

familiarity with the policies and show you trust your own wellbeing is

imperative. Taking risk with your personal safety on the line is already
bad not to mention the school would be held liable for any accidents

inside the school campus. Safety rules are not self-assertively

composed. Similarly as a hot stove is hands-off for a kid, ensuring you

pursue grounds security standards can shield you from getting singed

by conceivably unsafe settings.

Peer Consideration, notwithstanding self-safeguarding,

compliance to class policies and procedures demonstrates that you

regard your companions and view their own safety as important.

Dutifulness additionally shows that you trust the education of your peers

is essential to their future well-being. For instance, rules administering

your appearance are intended to limit classroom diversions. When you

dress in a way that doesn't attract undue thoughtfulness regarding

yourself, it enables your cohorts to concentrate on their investigations

rather than your attire. When you practice restraint and regard for your

companions, the network environment is better for everybody.

Academic reputation, now and then, rules are a weight to comply.

Guidelines may once in a while appear to be irrelevant or pointless,

however it's essential to comply with the policies regardless of whether

you feel they're superfluous. Regardless of whether you think nobody

sees or values your great conduct, rest guaranteed your teachers do see

when you follow the rules and they value it. Compliance to the guidelines

at school improves your associations with your teachers and shows that
you care about your education. Demonstrating your regard toward the

academic rules of the campus like "no cheating" helps construct a trust

with your teachers. By keeping up a solid scholastic reputation, your

teachers likewise realize you are serious about learning.

Respect for authority, when you follow the guidelines at school,

you demonstrate that you comprehend the significance of policies and

you regard the administering specialist. We are faced with various rules

in school as well as in every day life, and compliance to those guidelines

demonstrates we care about the individuals who make the rules,

regardless of whether it be a principal, teacher or a police officer.

Obedience to rules likewise demonstrates your teachers and principal

you trust their decisions regardless of whether you don't comprehend

the reason behind a particular rule.

Reasons Why Students Violate Rules and Regulations

Universally, a few violators neglected to admit the reasons for

their reckless behaviour in the school, Some are victims of abuses of

parents which the students denies all reality and once in a while violators

are casualties of their own teachers like in Darling Town express a grade

teacher who was recently blamed for endeavoring to "dack" an student

and examined for "kissing and snuggling" (Corry, 2008). The reason a

few people defy rules is on the root reason that it might make them look

cool, or it might be interesting, however in some cases individuals simply

don't know better. Keep in mind that everybody was raised in an

unexpected way, so don't separate, Just endeavor to get along. What's

more, most of the time getting stuck in an unfortunate situation is fun, or

in some cases justified, despite all the trouble, it relies upon your identity

(Gilbert, 2005). Schools have procedures that are being actualized for

the general welfare of its constituents. These approaches give a lot of

rules that the students, teachers, and etc. ought to pursue. These

principles are vital for the request and consistency of the students inside

the school premises. Indeed, even with the nearness of these principles,

a portion of the students abuse them neglecting the authorizations that

accompany it. The word strategy started from the Latin word "politia" or

"commonwealth". Characterized as an unequivocal game-plan received

for convenience. Here are a few infringement that are generally

disregarded by students, it is the conduct that the students have not

delighted in to adapt which they decide to skip from the school. First

reason which may influence students to stay off school; the students

can't comprehend the exercise, at that point there would be an absence

of enthusiasm for learning and an attention on learning. Second reason,

their family is miserable, poor or rich yet need of adoration and care from

their family. The last reason is school and teacher, they don't

comprehend kids. Additionally some instructor has the showing strategy

as not fascinating. These reasons would make studentsto stay out of

school (Haram, 2012).

Extent to Which Rules and Regulation Enhance Discipline in Schools

School policies are among the methodologies of discipline intended

to impart great conduct to students. This suggest poise, precision, great

conduct and dutifulness to class expert (Adams, 2003). Likewise, on

affirmation, schools particularly at auxiliary dimension, students are given

plans, which spell out a portion of the desires which incorporate consistence

with guidelines and direction (Adams, 2003). Kinggudu (2009) directed an

examination on how the administration of school rules impacts students’

scholarly execution in chose private auxiliary schools of Busiro Country in

Wakiso District, Uganda. The examination utilized study investigate

configuration especially cross-sectional overview plan. Poll was the principle

instrument of information accumulation not withstanding talk with guide and

record survey. Four (4) private auxiliary schools were haphazardly chosen in

Busiro County of Wakiso District in which the investigation was directed. The

real discoveries of the ponder were; all schools have composed guidelines and

directions however which they don't get it, a few standards and directions

require adjustments and others need consistence in their execution, which

raises students outrage prompting brutality, strikes and animosity. The

specialist found that regardless of principles and controls determining what

school individuals ought to do also, what they ought not do, this desire, in most

optional schools in Busiro County, Students disrupted the guidelines and

controls with broad indiscipline acts, for example, getting away from schools,

taking of alcohol, illegal drugs, taking part in regular hits with closure of schools

and suspension of students. The study was conducted in Uganda while the

current study was conducted in Kenya. The study further used a cross sectional

survey design. Data generated from across sectional sight survey was not
systematic for analyzing the characteristics in the specific area of concern. The

current study employed a descriptive survey research design that is aimed at

gathering systematic information from a specific area. The scope of the study

was selected private secondary schools; however, the current study was

interested in finding out the effectiveness of school rules in enhancing discipline

in public secondary schools in Kangundo Division, Machakos County in Kenya.

Kabandize (2004) carried out a study on students control through rules and

regulations set by individual schools in Uganda and observed that, rules and

regulations are enforced through prefect bodies and councils, disciplinary

committees, teachers and involvement of parents. Cotton (2000) also argued

that the best results could be obtained through vigilantly reminding students

about rules and regulations of the school and monitoring their compliance with

them. However it has become normal in many secondary schools for students

to break school rules and regulations with impunity, showing lack of respect to

school authority, damaging of school property, beating up their teachers, rioting

at any slightest opportunity and even inflicting harm on one another to the

extent of using acid as a means of defense. The consequences from such

undisciplined behaviors may result into poor students’ academic performance.

Investigation was directed in Uganda while the current examination was led in

Kenya. The examination further utilized across sectional study plan. Information

created from crosswise over sectional study which was not efficient for

dissecting the attributes in the explicit territory of concern. The extent of the

investigation was chosen private optional schools; anyway, the current

investigation was keen on discovering the viability of school manages in

improving order out in the open optional schools in Kangundo Division,

Machakos County in Kenya. Kabandize (2004) did an examination on students

that control through guidelines and directions set by individual schools in

Uganda and saw that, principles and directions are implemented through official

bodies and boards, disciplinary councils, educators and association of

guardians. Cotton (2000) additionally contended that as well as could be

expected be gotten through cautiously reminding students about standards and

directions of the school and checking their consistence with them. Anyway, it

has turned out to be typical in numerous auxiliary schools for students to break

school tenets and directions with exemption, indicating absence of regard to

class expert, harming of school property, whipping their educators, revolting at

any scarcest chance and notwithstanding dispensing damage on each other to

the degree of utilizing corrosive as a method for resistance. The outcomes from

such wayward practices may result into poor student academic performance.

Discipline and Student's academic achievements

Tenets or standard of conduct can be characterized as the common

desires for a gathering of individuals. These groups are the gathering views as

a socially adequate example of conduct expected of each person in the

gathering (Harris, 2005). In a perfect world, schools set guidelines and controls

for the correct administering of the different ways of life of students containing

the do's and don'ts (Okumbe, 2008). Controls then again are definitive requests

with a course of law planned to advance request and effectiveness in an

association. (McGregor, 2006) moreover agreed with (Okumbe, 2008), and

contended that viable schools show sound comprehensive

Rehearses, which incorporates underscoring school principles and

directions, community-oriented authority and their great practice. The school

tenets and directions in this manner endorse the standard of conduct expected

of the instructors and the students. These analysts did not say anything on the

impact of rules and regulation and directions on student's scholarly execution

and consequently a requirement for this examination.

Great order at school assumes an indispensable job in the

accomplishment of desires and objectives. Numerous optional schools

encounter incapable control. This absence of control has influenced the

learner's scholarly execution and their advancement in school. (Findley,

Nicholson, and Wood 2005) express that great order creates alluring

understudy conduct. On the off chance that a school has viable control, the

scholarly execution will be great. Bearings in favor of the students and in

addition teachers will be simple and smooth. (Gave, Jacobs and Vakalisa,

2005) stress co-agent learning as an answer. On the off chance that a school

needs compelling order, the accomplishment scholastically will be the poor.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the findings of the study are as follows: Indiscipline is one

of the most noteworthy issue of concern in school’s, may it be from public to

private schools. As indiscipline can cause interruptions during class hours,

discipline plays a huge role in a student’s academic performance and in the

student’s behavior towards fellow student’s/or people in general. The students

behavior may be based on the environment for the development of the student,

as school is the preparation ground of an individual, the school rules and

regulations has a great impact on the students developing mind, it is based on

how the school enforces rules and regulations that can enhance a students

discipline to improve as a person and possibly enhance the students

performance academically. There are different factors on when students

choose to obey or disobey rules and regulations these are: The penalties that

are given, The teachers who enforce the rules and regulations, lastly, Influence.

Students tend to follow teachers that give penalties, students disregard the

rules when no penalty is given. The school rules and regulations were

implemented for the enhancement of the students discipline in school. Overall

conclusion is that the students follow the rules and regulations of the school

when authority is enforcing the rules, there are students that comply to the rules
and have a positive effect there are some that had a negative effect to them,

lastly the researchers came to a conclusion that the only solution to the arising

issue of indiscipline is positive enforcement to the students.

CHAPTER 3

METHODOLOGY OF RESEARCH

This chapter describes the method to be used in this study, research

locale, research respondents, research instruments, the data gathering

procedure, and the statistical treatment of the data

Research Design

The research will utilize a Quantitative Design. The descriptive method

of research will be used in this study. Descriptive method of research is a fact-

finding study with adequate and accurate interpretation of the findings (Villa,

2018). It describes what is. It describes with emphasis what actually exist such

as current conditions, practices, situations, or any phenomena.

The researchers of this study concluded that the best research

methodology is the quantitative research for concluding the Impact of Rules and

regulation regarding discipline on the Junior Highschool students whether the

respondents measure up to a positive or negative outcome. (Creswell, 2002)

The information gathered from elucidating exploration might be

quantitative, subjective or both. The quantitative information is commonly

introduced as expressive insights that give essential data or the mean, middle,

and method of an informational collection. Quantitative date may likewise be

arranged along a continuum in numerical frame, for example, scores on a test.

It can likewise be utilized to depict classes of data or examples of

collaborations. Such quantitative information is regularly spoken to in tables,

diagrams, and outlines which makes it easy to use and simple to translate.

(McLellan, 1996).

Research Respondents

In handling the study of the students in Christ the King College, the

researchers will conduct it on the chosen grade levels and sections defined as

the grade 7, 8, 9,10 and sections 1 to 5. The chosen grade level and sections

will read and answer the given survey., the researchers will ask permission from

the teachers and principal of the said chosen grade level and sections in their

subject time, and the students will be excused to their activity so that the

respondents can answer the questionnaire. The data will be tabulated,

analyzed and the interpreted according to the specific answers given by the

respondents. This study purposes the enhancement of the learners in the

campus, their behavior and their polite things they do in school.

Table 1 shows the distribution of the respondents of the study.

Slovin’s Formula: Where:

n = N n = 340

1+Ne2 N = 600

e = 0.05

n = 600

1+600 (0.05)2

n = 340

Table 1

Respondents of the Study

No. of

Respondents population Percentage Sample

Grade 7 131 22.44% 28

Grade 8 174 28.48% 35

Grade 9 147 24.06% 30

Grade 10 139 26.02% 31

Total 611 100% 124

This research will apply the modified systematic random sampling where

every fifth member of a population is given a chance to be chosen. The

systematic random sampling actually requires every ninth member of the

population to be included in the sampling (Fregurson, 2001).

Since the samples will only be 11.00% or less 111 respondents with the

actual systematic random sampling scheme, the researcher modified the

sampling design by making it every fifth member as part of the sample in order

to provide a higher number of respondents and therefore come up with a more

accurate data.

The study will utilize a survey questionnaire as an instrument of the study.

Survey questionnaire is a sense of questions used to gather information that is

given to use for statically analysis to asset a group of individuals. Survey

questionnaire are much eager way to collect data than conducting an interview.

For example, some people think that questionnaires always ask short close

ended problem while interviews always ask broad open-ended ones.

Survey research is the collection of data achieved by asking individuals

questions either in person on paper by phone or online. Conducting surveys is

one form of the main research, which is the gathering data first-hard from its

source.

There are here parts included in the survey questionnaire. The first is all

about the profile of the respondents. It will ask about their age, sex, grade level,

and section. The second part contains questions In terms of experiences of

respondents regarding academic dishonesty. This questionnaire is made to

assess the knowledge of the respondents t wards academic dishonesty.

The third part of the questionnaire base on the attitude of the students

on academic dishonesty. There are set of propositions that the respondents will

be rating based on the scale provided.

Part 1

3 – Yes. Means that the respondents agree.

2 – Maybe. Means that the respondents are conflicted.

3 – No. Means that the respondents do not agree.

Part 2

3 - Always (A) – Means that the respondents do it regularly.

2 - Sometimes (B) – Means that the respondents do It frequently.

1 - Never (C) – Means that the respondents do not do it.

Statistical Treatment of Data

In order to conclude the positive and negative outcome of the

respondents the researchers must conduct a survey. A survey method was

used in a questionnaire that contains questions regarding the compliance of the

respondents to the school’s rules and regulations. To interpret the data

gathered, the researchers will use the following statistical treatment:

1. Relative Frequency. It will be used to determine the profile of the

respondents. The formula is:

𝒇
𝑷= 𝒙 𝟏𝟎𝟎
𝒏

where: P = relative frequency

f = frequency

n =total number of observations

2. Weighted Mean. It will be utilized to compute the average perception

of the respondents on why student join extra-curricular activities and

its effect on their academic performance. The formula is:

𝚺𝒇𝒙
𝞵=
𝒏

where: 𝞵 = Weighted mean

𝛴 = Summation

f = No. of responses each scale

x = Weight assigned to each scale

n = Total number of respondents

An interpretation will be assigned to give verbal interpretation to the computed

weighted mean. The following scale shall be used:

Table 2

Data Interpretation

Scale Range Verbal Interpretation

3 2.25 – 3.00 Always(A)

2 1.76 – 2.25 Sometimes(B)

1 1.00 – 1.75 Never(C)
