Students Misbehavior in a New Normal Setting iii

ABSTRACT

Student misbehavior is a prevalent problem within schools. The primary aim of

this research study was to identify the most common and unacceptable forms of

misconduct exhibited by secondary school students and examine their impact on

academic performance. A quantitative research approach was employed, focusing on

Nagbalaye High School as the study location. The research findings unveiled that the

participants engaged in misbehavior including tardiness, verbal aggression, alcoholism,

disrespecting teachers, and verbal aggression. A sample of 30 students was selected

randomly, with 30% female and 70% male, both aged between 12 and 19.

These students participated in the study by responding to the questionnaire. The

results indicated a significant relationship between students' misbehavior and their

academic performance. However, the profiles of the participants, such as their age, grade

level, and gender, did not show any significant relationship with the level of misbehavior.

It can be concluded that misbehavior is not contingent upon factors such as age, gender,

or grade level. Furthermore, the severity of students' misbehavior directly corresponds to

the detrimental impact it has on their academic performance.

helped us improve and have suggested good points this research project.

To Ms. Lucibelle Marie Pedrona for helping us in performing the computations

for Pearson's correlation coefficient (r) and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient.

To our parents who gave us their full support both moral and financial, To the

Almighty God, for in one way or another have been the source of strength and grant us

the ability to accomplish this research.

To the faculty and staff of Nagbalaye High School who gave us their permission

and effort to spare their time with us during the survey.
