 Theme:
The theme chosen is Environmental sustainability.
On its current trajectory, fashion is one of the world's most polluting industries.
In its current state, the fashion industry is unsustainable. Garment industry is responsible
for 10% of global carbon emission and if continues, that share could jump to 26% by 2050.

 The problem statement:

Fast fashion refers to the lines of clothing created to follow the fashion trends. Pressures to
reduce cost and production time mount, leading to negative environmental impacts. The
average consumer spends 60% more and keeps each clothing for half as long. 79 billion cubic
meters of water was used by the textile industry in 2015. 235 million items of clothing sent to
landfills in 2014. 1.2 billion tonnes of carbon emissions produced by fashion industry in
2015. Just 1% of the 80% of the clothes that are sent to landfills are recycled. This poses a
challenge to environmental sustainability.

 Analysis/proposed solution to the problem statement (your big idea):

According to our survey, a lot of people are now open to the idea of rental clothing
sustainability being a driving force supporting their decision.
With people being tech savvy now, we have proposed a solution of creating a
Website/Application to rent wide range of apparels for any tenure that the customers wish to;
be it a Wedding, Date Night or Evening parties where the clothes are usually worn once or
twice.
An Airbnb, but for clothes.

 Execution (in brief your strategic plan/structure to reach
organizational goals):

We plan to tie up with brands and make a network of people who have clothes lying around
and are ready to put it up for renting or resale. Before listing the apparel on our website, the
product will have to go through quality check before it reaches our customers.

There are two revenue models: Subscription and Rental model.

The key strategic considerations that we will be considering are (i) churn cost (ii) customer
acquisition cost (iii) logistics (iv) inventory acquisition cost and (v) re-commerce price.

The objective here is to make fashion and sustainability go hand in hand.

 Impact (in terms of cost, time impact, impact on beneficiaries or
similar:
 The setup and the customer acquisition cost are nominal.
 The time to setup a website is two weeks on an average and the customer base can be
setup easily, as evident by our survey results.
 The above model depicts a win-win scenario for all the beneficiaries: the customers,
the sellers, dry cleaners, logistics and most importantly, the environment. Our model
provides an affordable choice to the consumers, side income to the renting party and
also creates job opportunities. This will also lead to less clothes being discarded,
which in turn will make the fashion industry more sustainable.
