BUILDING YOUR SBA QUESTION:

The following are Guidelines for Constructing an SBA question

 Step 1-Look through your text from cover to cover and see what topic interests YOU. Find
about three that interest you. Spend some time thinking even while doing your Christmas
chores.

 Step 2- Do a little reading on it.

 Step 3-Use any ONE of the following ways underlined as a guide to START YOUR QUESTION

BUILDING YOUR QUESTION:

Look at the GUIDELINES below.

You have to create ONE question. (Think of a topic and do research)

Your question must follow the pattern of any ONE of the underlined parts listed below when
you build your question. DO NOT COPY THEIR QUESTION.
IS YOUR QUESTION TESTABLE?

Testable means you can find INFORMATION. To ensure that it is testable start locating at least five
sources/books that deal with your topic within its pages. Some books can be found online. If you
are using websites make sure its reputable sites uploaded by historians, universities, associations.

Books:

If you are taking notes from any book while doing research:

 take down the page numbers


 the authors full name, (front cover)
 the name of the book (found front of book)
 the publishing company. (found on copyright page OR logo on spine of book)
 the city/country where published (found on copyright page
 Year published. (copyright page)

Let’s look at where you can find this in a book. Turn to the very first page of the book which is called
the copyright page. See examples below:

 1930’s Role of Tubal Uriah Buzz Butler
 Independence/Federation: Causes of the failure of the Federation of the Caribbean/
 Role of Dr Eric Williams in the Integration/Federation Movement
 1970.s Causes of Black Power Revolution in Trinidad
 The Steelband Movement-The Long road to Acceptance
 Calypso as a vehicle for commentary on what is happening in society.
 Rastafarianism practices as a rejection of European white status quo and society.
