Introduction:
In the beginning, I did this assignment about electrical engineering which is my chosen
field. I started with a simple introduction to engineering and its branches. After that I wrote about
the electrical engineering. At the end of this assignment I hope you know what is exactly the
electrical engineering, and what is the kind of works does the electrical engineers do? And know if
is this discipline still needed in our society or we had enough electrical engineers as many people
think? So, I think that many wrong ideas that will be changed after reading this assignment!

Any countries need engineers to develop and improve itself, and Saudi Arabia, one of these
countries. There are many definitions for engineering .but I will choose the general of them.
Engineering is the discipline and profession of applying technical and scientific knowledge and
utilizing natural laws and physical resources in order to design and implement materials, structures,
machines, devices, systems, and processes that realize a desired objective and meet specified
criteria.
Engineering contains many fields such as:

The aeronautical engineering Civil engineering Chemical engineering

Industrial engineering Mechanical engineering Electrical engineering

There are places where engineer can work in it like:

Private sectors General sectors Factories

Or it may be a group of investors…, etc this is depended on his fields.

What is the electrical engineering?

Electrical engineering is a field of engineering that generally deals with the study and
application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. The field first became an identifiable
occupation in the late nineteenth century after commercialization of the electric telegraph and
electrical power supply. It now covers a range of subtopics including power, electronics, control
systems, signal processing and telecommunications, scale electronic systems including computers
and integrated circuits.

Why electrical engineering important? And what is the

problems that will be solved?
Electrical engineers are an important part of many industries, from
companies that develop spacecraft to companies that build coffee makers,
electrical engineer jobs are a crucial aspect of creating quality products.
Jobs generally fall into five classifications, ranging from research and
design to testing, project management and systems controls. Each serves a
different purpose, but all utilize an electrical engineer's understanding of electrical properties
and how power flows. Electrical engineering is considered to deal with the problems
associated with large-scale electrical systems such as power transmission and motor control or
study of small- scale electronic systems including computers and integrated circuits.

 The length of electrical engineering projects and electrical engineering's
work areas.
The projects length in electrical engineering is generally very long. It takes some times a
lot of weeks or months or maybe years to be finished, but although that, some of the projects are
very short! We can say that this is depends on the company's size and work. A lot of people ,
maybe you are one of them , think that electrical engineering is only limited to installing and
connecting fiber electrical, but in fact, graduates can also be found in health care, banking
,insurance companies, consulting, government, service, transportation, agriculture and retailing.
Maybe this is why we can't determine what exactly the project length for electrical engineer. So
electrical engineers can work in many different positions and establishments and this can be one
of the big benefits of electrical engineering field so you can determine what the best position for
you. For example, if you can handle with dangerous jobs, then you can work in the factories with
big dangerous allowance, but if you prefer desktop work with no dangerous also you can find a
job in retailing or banking or many other positions.

Some statistics
So, now we can say that electrical engineers are
much needed in our job market and to proof that I have
done some researches and statistics about the number of
engineers in Saudi Arabia: If you look to the table (1)
below, you will see that we have about only (2264)
electrical engineer as Saudi employee in private sectors.
So, that means our country is still need a lot of Saudi
electrical engineers To reduce the proportion of non-
Saudis. And some statistics show that a very small
number of Saudi electrical engineers working in the
public sectors.

When we talk about the average salary for electrical

engineer, there are some statistics says that the
electrical engineer who has a bachelor's degree take
salary range of 7000 SR to 12,000 SR at the start of
employment, that depending on the specialization
within electrical engineering. So when you work for
a period of years may Salary up to 20000 SR. and
most of job offers for electrical engineers include
health insurance, Housing allowance, transportation
allowance and sometimes dangerous allowance.

Finally, I had to say if you want any other statistics or numbers,

Saudi Arabia has a professional society for all fields of engineering,
included the electrical engineering, it called "The Saudi Council Of
Engineers" so you can visit them on "www.saudieng.org" about any
statistics or numbers you want.

Discussion:
At the end, there are a lot of things I have learned form writing this assignment such as, I
gets more idea about my chosen field and a many information I get it that I don't know it
before.

I hope that I have explained some of the ideas or concepts about electrical engineering,
and I want to write summary about the important points:

 Electrical engineers typically work on large-scale electrical systems such as

power transmission and motor control or study of small- scale electronic
systems including computers and integrated circuits..
 There are many companies that hire electrical engineers in the public sector
and private sectors.
 The projects length in electrical engineering is generally very long. But
sometimes it short. So we can't determine the exactly project length. We can
just expect from the type of work and the company's size.
 Our job market still needs a lot of the electrical engineers, and the current
numbers especially of Saudis electrical engineers are not enough for our job
market.
 Saudi Arabia has a professional society for all engineers. It called "The Saudi
Council of Engineers.
