Inua Vijana Vocational Skills Training Centre Project

The Inua Vijana Vocational Skills Training Centre Project was established five (5) years ago by
a local Faith Based Organization (FBO). The FBO has active branches in 30 Counties in Kenya.
The Centre is located in a 15-acre piece of land, approximately 10km outside Nakuru town. The
Project targets very needy youth aged 13-35 years from across the 47 Counties in the country.
Among others, the Centre offers courses in motor vehicle repair, electrical installation & repair,
electronics assembly & repair, plumbing, masonry, metalwork, painting and woodwork. To date,
70 youth have graduated from the Centre while 175 learners are currently at various stages of
their studies. Over 80% of the beneficiaries of the Project are from disadvantaged socio-
economic backgrounds such as “street” families, forced & early marriages, and very poor and
ailing parents/guardians. Slightly more than 90% of the learners are boarders. Over the years, the
Project has received substantial financial and technical support from foreign partners. Indeed,
close to 90% of the Project’s annual recurrent and development expenditure is funded by the
foreign partners.
