Academic Integrity
All acts of academic dishonesty (including, but not limited to, plagiarism, cheating, fabrication, facilitation
of acts of academic dishonesty by others, unauthorized possession of exam questions, or tampering with
the academic work of other students) are serious offences. All work (whether oral or written) submitted
for purposes of assessment must be the student’s own work. Penalties for violation of the policy range
from zero marks for the component assessment to expulsion, depending on the nature of the offense. As
WR is part of the Core Curriculum, the Dean of Core Curriculum and the Office of Dean of Students will
also have to be kept informed. When in doubt, students should consult the instructors of the course.

2020 proved to be a challenging year and the continued prospect of the Covid-19 pandemic looming
over us for the foreseeable future has led to PM Lee expressing his concerns about “the most dangerous
crisis humanity has faced in a very long time” (2020, para. 7). As we face limitations to the ways we
normally interact with others and our economy suffers because “the global economy has virtually
ground to a halt”. Students have not been spared, with lessons being brought online and would-be
graduates worried about their job prospects after graduation.
PM Lee has stressed that “the unity and resilience of our people” (2020, para. 28) remains the key
ingredient to recovering from this crisis. Resilience is about the ability to survive and “bounce back”
from adversity and the ability to thrive and develop in-depth personal growth. Like many overseas
universities and institutions which have developed resilience projects, the Mrs Wong Kwok Leong
Student Wellness Centre at SMU focuses on four aspects of Wellness: Physical Wellness, Intellectual
Wellness, Emotional Wellness and Social Wellness to build resilience.
The centre is planning to focus on promoting Social Wellness in 2021, and increase the awareness of
both Social Wellness and resilience building.
The Centre would like to invite students to submit a proposal providing the centre with some ideas and
strategies to promote the building of resilience in SMU. Themes and ideas which the centre would like
to explore include, but are not limited to, the following:
The amount allocated for this project is S$10,000 and the proposal should include an action plan, a
budget and ways of measuring the success of the proposed approach(es).
Given the upheaval caused by Covid-19 globally and locally, the Mrs Wong Kwok Leong Student
Wellness Centre at SMU is deeply aware of the need for students to be resilient in the face of this
challenge. The Centre focuses on four aspects of wellness for building resilience: Physical Wellness,
Intellectual Wellness, Emotional Wellness and Social Wellness.
As part of its overall efforts to build resilience, the Centre is planning to promote Social Wellness in
2021, particularly among SMU students. To do this, the Centre intends to host a two-day programme
for the SMU community. The objective of this programme is to increase awareness of Social Wellness
and the role it plays in resilience building.
The Centre is seeking proposals for how this two-day programme can be designed to be the most
effective at promoting the concept of Social Wellness among SMU students.
The amount allocated to conduct this two-day programme is S$10,000 and the proposal should include
an action plan, a budget and ways of measuring the success of the programme.
Swanz is a local company specialising in porcelain household ware. Having established itself in
Singapore for the past ten years, Swanz also sells its products in Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea
and Taiwan.
Swanz is interested in differentiating itself in the thermal bottle market, and its latest product, the Nest
Cup, was launched in 2020. It is keen to explore how it can continue to gain a foothold in various
overseas markets through the digital marketing of the Nest Cup. In particular, it would like to reach out
to a younger market and promote the Nest Cup in this way.
Swanz is seeking proposals for how the nest cup can be promoted to young adults in Singapore and its
overseas markets.
What is the age range of the consumers Swanz should reach out to and why?
What features of the nest cup should Swanz promote?
What digital platforms should Swanz use to promote its new product?
Which markets should Swanz focus on in the short- to medium-run?
The amount allocated to conduct this marketing campaign is S$10,000 and the proposal should include
an action plan, a budget and ways of measuring the success of the programme.
