Plagiarism Writing

Summary

1. Plagiarism occurs if you use somebody else’s work in an assignment or exam

answer, but fail to state where you got the material from. You need to be also

2
very careful about the amount of words you are using from somebody else’s
work.
2. It can happen in any type of assessment where you are given the questions or
tasks in advance.
3. If another student uses your work in his/her answer(s), both you and he/she will
be punished when caught.
4. Punishments for committing plagiarism can be very severe.

Details

Plagiarism is a form of cheating in which students use the work of others and present it
as their own. It may include all or any one of the following –

1. Copy extensively from the work of others (from sources such as books,
magazines, journal, web-sites etc) and submit the work as your own.
2. Copy another students’ work and submit it for assessment under your own
name.
3. Allow another student to copy your work and then submit it for assessment
under their own name.

What happens if you get caught?

The examining body of CBFS may punish offending students in any manner that they
deem fit. Typical punishments may range from reduction in marks, making students re-
sit modules and even failing students on a module or an entire award. The college
considers this form of cheating as a serious offence. Therefore be forewarned!

Scenario

Globalization is the word used to describe the growing interedepndence of the world’s
economies, cutures and populations, brought about by cross border trade in good and
services, technology, flow of investment, people and information. Multinational
organizations has largely contributed towards globalization. Multinational organizations
dominate world production and trade. They control a substantial portion of world
production and total sales of a good number of products.

A multinational corporation means an enterprise which allocates company resources

without regard to national frontiers but is nationally based in terms of ownership and top
management. Basically, they are international corporations with a production location in
more than one country. These enterprises own or control production or service facilities
outside the country in which they are based.

Their managerial headquarters are located in one country (home country) to carry out
their operations in a number of other countries (host countries). The liberalisation of
controls over international direct investment by most of the countries and the steps taken
by the developing countries to invite foreign capital for encouraging industrial
development after the Second World War has brought about the growth of multinational
corporations. The large number of American, European and Japanese MNCs are working
in the developing countries. Now, multinationals are also emerging from developing
countries and countries from far east Asia.

4
A corporate scandal can occur any time in a MNC if there is evidence of unethical
behaviour, negligence or third-party interference, evidence of ‘creative’ accounting,
dodgy business practices, data breaches or anything that damages the environment.
Corporate governance is a field that has gained increased interest from academics and
policymakers around the world in the past decade, spurred by major corporate scandals
and governance problems in a host of countries, including the corporate scandals of
Enron in the United States and Parmalat in Italy and the expropriation of minority
shareholders in the East Asian crisis countries and other emerging countries.
