1. Why do ionic materials change the colligative properties of a solution?


- Adding of ions creates significant changes of colligative properties
because the solvent is no longer the same just like the pure solvent.
2. Why do we need to consider a van’t Hoff factor for electrolytes but not
in nonelectrolytes?
- In electrolytes, it undergoes association or dissociation in a solution
where the particles either increases or decreases just like in van’t Hoff
factor.
3. A solution of 40.0 g of HF in 2 kg of water freezes at –2.00°C. Find the
degree of ionization of HF.
