HISTORY
THE MODERN AGE, OR MODERNITY,
is the post-medieval era identified in part by
technological advances, urbanization, scientific
discoveries and globalization. Generally, it is divided
into two parts the early and the late modern ages. The
early modern period began with Gutenberg's invention
of the movable type printing press in the late 15th
century. Gutenberg's machine greatly enabled the
spread of knowledge and, in turn, spurred the
Renaissance and the Protestant Reformation. Public
transport improved during the early modern era,
politics became more Christianized, capitalism spread,
nation-states became more dominant and software
became more widely available.

SOCIETY
During the 15th and 16th century many geographic
discoveries took place to. Christian Columbus that started
a journey to the East Indies in 1492, with money from the
Catholic Kings of Spain he discovered America. He also
thought that the Earth was round and he had reached the
Indies in his journey. He believed that he reached the East
by sailing west but instead he had discovered a new
world. During the modern age, society was divided into
three groups these are nobility which are royalty and
members of the upper class, clergy which are the church
officials such as bishops and priests, and commoners
which includes burghers, beggarsand peasants,

THE DISCOVERY OF
ELECTRICITY
In June 1752, Benjamin
Franklin conducted his famous
kite experiment. In order to
show that lightning was
electricity, he flew a kite
during a thunderstorm. He
tied a metal key to the kite
string to conduct the
electricity.
COMPUTER
In the 18th century , the
English inventor Charles
Babbage invented and
partially created the
Analytical Engine or the
first machine. The
Analytical engine is much
more than a calculator and
marks the progression from
the mechanized arithmetic
of calculation.
PLASTIC
It was invented by John
Wesley Hyatt wherein he
was just looking for the
cheap substitute ivor
billiards until he
discovered the blended
science of combined
cellulose nitrate and
camphor to produce a
moldable versatile
material-celluloid that
turns into plastic.

invented the phonograph. It is
used to record sounds and then
replay the sounds. It sets the
foundation for music and the
music industry within the US
and the world. It set the stage
for a new era of technological
advances that allowed people
to record music and messages.

incandescent lamp in the
year 1878. Thomas Edison
began serious research into
developing incandescent
lamp and on October 14,
1878, he filed his first patent
application for
"Improvement in Electric
Lights.
Van Gogh heralded modern

sentiment. Inspired by the
view from his window at the
Saint Remy, where the artist
spent 12 months in 1889. The
Starry Night demonstrates
how inseparable Van Gogh's

VACUUM
John S. Thurman invented, in
1898, gasoline powered cleaner
that was so big that had to be
horse-drawn and didn't create
a vacuum, but it blew the air
and cleaned like that. The first
vacuum cleaner that used the
same principles as those that
we use today was invented by
Hubert Cecil Booth of England
in 1901.
AEROPLANE
Wilbur and Orville wright
invented the first successful
airplane in 1903. With their
curious minds, they began to
wonder how a pilot balance a
aircraft in air, just like cyclist
balance his bicycle on the road.
They established the world's
first test flight facilities at
Huffman Praine, northeast of
Dayton.
ARTIFICIAL
INTELLIGENCE
John McCarthy and a team of
mean created a proposal for a
workshop on artificial
intelligence. In 1956 when the
workshop took place, the
official birth of the word was
attributed to McCarthy. Allen
Newell (researcher), and Cliff
Shaw (programmer) co-
authored logic theorist, the
first artificial intelligence
computer.
