SUMMARY :

This is a conference for non-technical faculty or


staffers interested in the development of a website. The
conference will open with basic information on vocabulary
and terminology necessary to understand the internet means
and resources to use in web site design. From that point
onwards, participants will be supplied an overview of
information that will provide teachers “the know how” for
the web site design and development.

1. Basic Terminology:
This section of the conference will be devoted to an
explanation of terminology related the web and web design.
This initial section is important because one of the
greatest disadvantages users face is limited understanding
of the diversity of softwares available in the internet.
Also, participants will be supplied a handout in order to
set the conference informational tone from the beginning.

2. Browsers
This part of the conference will introduce participants to
the softwares used both to search and to visit the WWW
sites and resources. Web design has a lot to do with format
and information for visitors, so knowing the browsers
capabilities is key for a site design and development.

3. Considering your site purpose
This part of the conference relates to what an interactive,
informational or educational site look like. Sites are
designed with different intentions in mind , and each kind
serves a purpose based on that same intention the designer
originally though about. Here participants will learn about
the components of a good educational site.

4. Hyperlinks
This part will be about the important role links play in a
site presentation. The information learned in this section
will enable a site developer to value links as part of
the structure for a web site.

5. Basic HTML
This part will supply basic tags for html design aimed at
the users´level. Although html has been underrated by many,
it is still an important component of a web designers´
background knowledge.

6. HTML editor
The use of html editors is another important skill in order
to become design a web site. Editor information will be
supplied in this part of the conference.

7. Graphics
The use of graphics in an educational site is important, so
this part of the conference will explain the role graphics
play in design. The most important formats will be studied
as well as their different traits and advantages.

8. Multimedia and interactivity
The development of video and web TV call for the use of
these resources. This part of the conference will inform
the participants of the benefits and ways to use them.

9.Internet based resources for your site
This section offers participants information on resources (
mostly free) that designers can use. It is a very important
part of the conference. Participants will be given a
handout for this section.
