Chapter III

The Filipino Way

LET’S DO THIS:
Make an Illustration about some qualities that a Filipino have based on your
experience, it should be POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE Qualities.

POSITIVE QUALITY/ QUALITIES

 Respect for elders

 Hospitable
 Resiliency

Explanation of the Illustration:

Respect to the elders is one of my positive qualities of Filipinos, my parents was

already taught to have respect to elders. That's the value that I remember most in
my childhood. I believe that these values are learned through proper nurture from
our parents. We Filipinos are trained to be respectful when we speak our first
words. This is evidenced by how we treat foreigners.

I got from my friends was about one of the positive traits of Filipinos that of being
hospitable. This notion has persisted in my memory, and my own personal
observations have confirmed it. People spend their every centavo on special events,
to the extent of borrowing money, not just to feed invited and uninvited guests, but
also to provide them with something to take home. This positive feature is currently
being abused, as I've discovered. It will never be enough, even if you offer
everything you have

After any storm He will pick up the pieces and begin life anew after any storm.
Don’t lose hope is my personal philosophy. Yes, as long as there is life, may pag-
asa. We also call this pananalig. I have a strong faith in the Lord, which is why,
after every failure, I confidently get up again, knowing that he would assist and
provide for us.

NEGATIVE QUALITY/ QUALITIES

 Filipino Time

Explanation of the Illustration:
My own unique timekeeping system, which is known to be minutes or hours behind
schedule. This behavior irritates my friends who keep track of time because I am
notorious for not being punctual. It's a terrible habit that must be broken because it
stifles productivity and advancement. Not to mention that I am squandering not
only my own time but also the time of others.
Chapter IV

UNIVERSAL VALUES

ASSESMENT:
In your opinion why universal values is are necessary for human
survival? Give an example of a situation.

Universal values are self-evidently necessary for human survival since they shape
our thoughts, behaviors, and statements. Universal values assist us in growing as
respectful people in our daily lives, as well as enhancing our skills, abilities, and
human dignity. Universal ideals are also assisting us in building a better future.
Every one of us has the right and responsibility to make good judgments every day.

Furthermore, our universal values demand us to recognize the human features,

both good and bad, that we share with all of our fellow human beings, and to treat
people from other communities with the same respect for human dignity and
sensitivity that we ask from ourselves.
