INTRODUCTION
From the beginning of time, man has tried to improve his way and quality of life. The caveman
discovered how to make and used tools, developed a logical sequence of activities and evolved
processes that added value to his life. The totality of the uses and application of his knowledge,
skills, tools and materials constitute what we describe today as science and technology.
In this module, we will discuss the historical antecedents or the major events in the past that
changed the course of science and technology.
OBJECTIVES:
1. Discuss how scientific and technological developments affect history and the
society.
2. Identify and know Filipino scientists, their contributions and discoveries.
3. Weigh the merits of the advances that technology has wrought and identify
paradigm shifts in the history of technology.
