Activity 1: Caveman VS Computer

Observe the following picture of a caveman using a computer. Do you think, if they had
invented the computers at their time, they could have been well adapted to their
environment? Support your answer. ANSWER: Yes, they can easily adapt to their
environment. Because their knowledge will be broad enough that they can create a new
technology for their new life and their living will be easy.

Assessment

Directions: Apart from the above-mentioned history, create a short timetable of the
evolution of computers. You may include significant events or discoveries relative to the
invention of modern-day computers.

1. 1st generation 1942-1954 - Used Vacuum tubes

2. 2nd generation 1954-1963 - Used transistor

 NEAC 2203, 1960 -  Manufactured by the Nippon Electric Company (NEC),

3. 3rd generation 1964-1972 - Used Integrated Circuits

 IBM System/360, 1964 - The IBM System/360 mainframe was the first to cover a
complete range of applications, from small to large, from commercial to
scientific.

 CDC 6600, 1964 For a time the fastest machine in the world, Control Data
Corporation's 6600 machine was designed by noted computer architect
Seymour Cray.

 DEC PDP-8, 1965 - The first successful commercial minicomputer, the PDP-8,
made by the Digital Equipment Corporation.

 Interface Message Processor, 1969 Conceived at the height of the Cold War,

when the U.S. government sought a way to keep its network of computers alive
in case certain nodes were destroyed in a nuclear attack .

 Kenbak-1,1971 Often considered the world's first "personal computer" the

Kenbak was touted as an easy-to

4.) 4th generation - Apple I, 1976 - Initially conceived by Steve Wozniak (a.k.a. "Woz") with
Steve job
 IBM Personal Computer, 1981
 Osborne 1 Portable Computer, 1981
 Hewlett-Packard 150, 1983 - Representing the first step in a technology widely
available today, the HP 150 was the first commercially  available computer with touch
screen technology.
5.) 5th generation is the 1990-till date. - The VLSI technology became ULSI (Ultra
Large Scale Integration) technology, resulting in the production of microprocessor chips
having ten million electronic components.  This generation is based on parallel
processing hardware and AI (Artificial Intelligence) software.

 Android, 2003  Developed by Andy Rubin, who first started developing an OS for

digital cameras. Soon, he realized that the market for digital camera operating
systems perhaps wasn’t all that big, and Android, Inc. diverted its attention toward
smartphones.

 iPhone,2007 -The handy little device introduced by Apple CEO Steve Jobs in

2007

 IPad,2010 - And now the tablet is finally here. It's called an IPad, and it's half an
inch thick, weighs 1.5 pounds, and features a 9.7-inch display.
