UNIVAC I
The UNIVAC I (Universal
Automatic Computer I) was the
first general purpose electronic
digital computer designed for
business application produced in
the United States. It was
designed principally by J.Presper
Eckert and John Mauchly, the
inventor of the ENVIAC Design
work was started by their
company, Eckert-Mauchly
Computer Cooperation (EMCC)
and was completed after the
company has been acquired by
Remington Rand (which later
become part of Sperry now
Unisys). In the years before
successor models of the UNIVAC I
appeared the machine was simply known as the UNIVAC

CDC 3600
The Control Data Cooperation (CDC) 3600 computer arrived at NCAR in
November 1963 . NCAR had begun operation in 1960 as a program of the
National Science Foundation and management by the non profit University
Cooperation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR)

The IBM System/360 (S/360) is a family of mainframe computer systems that
was announced by IBM onApril 7,1964, and delivered between 1965 and 1978.
It was the first family of the computers designed to cover the range of

Cray-1
The Cray-1 was a supercomputer designed, manufactured and marketd by Cray
Research. Announced in 1975, the first Cray-1 system was Installed at Los Almos
Natonal Laboratory in 1976. Eventually over 100 Cray-1s were sold making iit
one of the most succesful supercomputers in history It is perheps best known
for its unique shape , a relatively small C-shapped cabinet with aring of betches
raound the outside covering the power supplies and the cooling system

greatest tech revolution since the internet . A smart phone does everything a
personal computer can do , and because of its mobility , much more
