A. PROPOSED ORIENTEERING AVTIVITY FOR GRADE 12 STUDENTS

improve problem solving skills, promote teamwork building and increase self-confidence.

III. Proponents: Grade 12 HUMSS B Orienteering Group.

IV. Rationale and Objectives:

a. Rationale

ORIENTEERING ACTIVITY

Orienteering is a challenging outdoor recreational activity that exercises both mind and
body. It is a challenge limited by time, where the opposing team with the help of a map and a
compass must reach the finish line in less possible time. Each team also need to pass a series of
control points, marked by flags, that the teams must reach in a specific order.

The whole event is organized by the orienteering staffs. Participants are then divided in
teams and brought to the location. After the briefing, each team receives the rules of the game
and a simplified map of the place.

Each team must find some points marked on the map. After finding the first point, the
team will proceed as quickly as possible to the next point. At each checkpoint, the teams will
have to solve riddles or games in order to continue to the next point. Each checkpoint area will
be controlled by 2 – 3 staffs to guarantee safety and success of the activity. The activity can have
a duration from a couple of hours.

At the end of the activity, the team who finished all activities first will be declared as
winners.

This proposal is addressed to students who want to live a day away from worries coming
from school and house works and providing opportunities for students to work both
independently and together as a team that will improve the overall performance of students –
