Noun は noun です; Noun は Adjective です

A. Noun は noun です

わたし は がくせい です。 Watashi wa gakusei desu. I am a student.
あなた は せんせい です。 Anata wa sensei desu. You are a teacher.

*Pronouns:

I – watashi wa She – kanojo wa


My – watashi no Her – kanojo no
You – anata wa We – watashitachi wa
Your – anata no Our – watashitachi no
He – kare wa They – karera wa
His – kare no Their – karera no

B. Noun は Adjective です

はは は やさしい です。 Haha wa yasashii desu. My mother is gentle.
ちち は おもしろい です。 Chichi wa omoshiroi desu. My father is funny.
*Note: Mother is actually “okaasan” and father is “otousan” when talking about
other people’s mother and father, but when one person talks about their own
mother and father, they call them “haha” (mother) and “chichi” (father).
