 Choose one option from each unit and write a single paragraph
of about 100-120 words. Write a total of three paragraphs.

Task: Choose ONE option from EACH unit and write a single paragraph of about
100-120 words. Write a total of three paragraphs.

Unit 1: Report

Option 1: Discuss the problems with the following passage from the introduction to a 214
report.

Nowadays, having no online access is such a big issue that is affecting more than one
billion people! It’s an issue that needs urgent attention; a fact highlighted by some research
that got done a few years ago. These studies show that it’s good for kids to get access to the
Internet because it makes them learn better, and it keeps them busy, etc. It’s not fair that so
many guys can’t get online, but unfortunately this is the life. So, what can be done about
this issue? In this report I will offer you some solutions to fix this issue.

Option 2: Explain what is wrong with each of the three citations below according to either the
APA 6 or the APA 7 guidelines.
a. According to John, Steve & Sam (2017), “88.5% of Americans are Internet users”.
b. The New York Times states that 40% of young adults (ages 18-24) use social media
in the bathroom (February 2018).
c. The country with the fastest average Internet speed is South Korea [Smith, Wilson
& Williams, p. 7].

Unit 2: Job Skills

Option 1: Read the transcript from part of a job interview below. Identify the mistakes the
interview candidate made and say how you would improve his answer.

Q: How would you handle conflict with your boss?

Answer: In my current job I am always getting into arguments with my boss. The reason is that
he is an idiot. He is always asking me to do things a certain way. I know better and so I always
do it my way. When he criticises my work I get very angry. I refuse to listen to what he has to
say. I know that I am right and I always let him know just how thoughtless his recommendations
are. It’s important to stand your ground. I know that if I am stubborn and inflexible he will
eventually give up and let me have my own way.
