Module I "Where the Wild Things Are”

ACTIVITY

What bad experiences do you have as a child?

The worst experience I had as a child was that I heard my mother’s bad
experiences with my grandmother before. It hurts to know that my mother was never
welcomed to the family and she had to suffer. And us living with my grandmother when
we were a child, it was never easy. We feel like we have to fit in and prove that we
deserve to be part of our family.

EXERCISE

1. What type of story is this?

The story “Where The Wild Things Are” is an example of a fantasy because it is
more on imagination and couldn’t possibly happen in real life.
2. What does Max encounter in his journey?
In his journey, Max encounter seven monstrous creatures which I think are also
children who are having tantrums. They are called the wild things.
3. How did Max become King of the wild things?
Max became the king of the wild things he convince them that he has power and
is capable of bringing peace to the group.
4. What does Max command the wild things to do?
Max as King ordered everyone to build an enormous fort.
5. What does Max learn by being king of the wild things?
Max learned that their lives is not easy and realizes what his mother is really
going through.

ASSESSMENT

1. What lesson does Max learn?

Max learned how difficult everyone’s lives are and if he force things and gets
angry because he can’t get what he wants, it will make things worse.
2. Does Max’s mother really care for him?
Yes, Max’s mother loves him and cares for him.
3. How do you know?
Every mother only wants the best for their children. Max’s mother got angry at
him because she didn’t like how Max acted and that’s what mother’s do. They
just want us to learn. And at the end, his mother still cooks for him to make up
with what happened.
4. What experiences do you have with your parents like Max had with his
mother?
I can still remember those times when things didn’t go my way and I had
tantrums as well. My parents just let me be and I learned that life is not easy. We
can’t force everything. And my mother loves me and her way of showing it is
through helping me with my assignments, teaching me to do stuff and of course
cooking us a delicious snacks.
5. What do the Wild things represent?
Each of the Wild Things represents a different emotion or feeling that exists
within the mind of Max that is a challenge that he must overcome.

REFLECTION

1. Write a reflection about your childhood experiences that relates to the

Where the Wild Things Are.
Life never comes easy. I had to experience the worse to learn. There was a time
when I got angry with my parents because they didn’t approve or agreed with me
so I did stuff that make things worse and I got punished for doing it. I thought I
was right, that I am doing the right things but time showed me and made me
realized that my parents were right. All they want is for me to become a great
person; they want me to learn that we can’t force and have everything we want. I
am actually grateful that I had parents that care for me because it made me the
person I am today.
