English Day at UdA Presentation

Good morning, let’s if I can add a few more resources to those already explained. I have classified these

into two groups, however all the resources can be used by both learners and teachers alike. Let’s see the

resources for learners. We’ll start by a very interesting and plentiful site: bbclearningenglish.com. Within

its key features we can find (for Intermediate level students) the very appealing 6 Minute English. Students

can listen to the episodes online or download the pdf of the transcript and the audio file. BBC Active,

formerly BBC ELT, includes print, audio and video media files for adults, young adults and children.

British Council’s Learn English is an incredible website. Its Business & Work section includes

professional podcasts featuring audio files and their corresponding listening comprehension and grammar

structures exercises. Learn English Online presents grammar lessons for beginners. A4ESL.org is a

website that has thousands of contributions by many teachers including quizzes, tests, exercises and

puzzles to help you learn English as a Second Language. Randall’s ESLCyber Listening Lab offers a

wonderful opportunity for those interested in practicing listening comprehension activities. It offers

thousands of everyday conversations with adult and children's voices. Those more interested in practicing

grammar structures will find English Page very useful. It offers complete grammar tutorials with their

corresponding interactive exercises. Manythings.org offers a variety of activities ranging from quizzes,

reading exercises, word games and puzzles. English Guide is, as its name indicates, a guide of different

resources for learning English. Let’s have a look now at the resources we can use to Teach English. British

Council’s BBC Teaching English is considered by many as an essential. It offers resources such as

activities with their corresponding guides and printable worksheets, lesson plans and tips; it also features

interesting sections on Teacher Development and Teacher Training. One Stop English offers helpful

activities if you are teaching business English or ESP such as this example on the language of Hospitality

and Tourism. MES English offers free printable flashcards and worksheets for teachers of young learners

and kids. Using English proposes a large collection of ESL tools and resources for teachers and learners

to be done either online or as printable handouts. ETS Toefl offers you everything you may need to

prepare your students for the test, it includes an exceptional video library with video and their

corresponding transcripts. ESL Basics offers resources including printable PDFs and Word documents

or downloadable English training videos for teachers and students. ESL Gold is a gold mine of resources

ranging from podcasts, videos, printable pdfs covering all aspects of language teaching and learning. TEFL

net presents sections that include ESL lesson plans, worksheets, courses and tips, TESL jobs and advice,

articles, teacher forums and more.
