Computer games

When I was a kid, I liked to play football in the park with my friends. I was always outside in the
fresh air doing something active. My dad bought me a bicycle when I was around ten years old and
I rode it everywhere. I must have done at least two or three miles a day at the weekend and during
the school holidays. I was never bored, even during the long summer holidays.

Nowadays, a lot of kids do very little exercise because they stay indoors most of the time playing
video games or computer games. I know that playing these games can be great fun. You can even
play against someone you don’t know or a friend who is not in the same place as you. However, I
think playing against someone who you can’t see or even know is weird.

I’ve seen kids playing chess against a computer, which I think is very strange. I know you can
choose the level you want to play at which gives you a chance to win against the computer. When
I was twelve years old I liked to play chess and I was quite good at it, and I was on the school
team. But perhaps I should have practised against a computer!

There are so many games available now, and they cover all interests from sports to action to war
games. It’s easy to get addicted to playing these games and not get any physical exercise. I believe
kids should limit the time they play these games for, or their parents should do this if it’s
necessary. This will give the kids a chance to get enough fresh air and physical exercise. Surely,
riding a real bike is more fun than riding a virtual one, although I could be wrong?
