2. Assam Assam Flood, Erosion and River Rs 1500 crore/ January 2014 • State Govt. submitted a Concept Note for the project
Management Modernization proposal to the Ministry in Jan’2014. Proposal was

• CWC examined the Concept Note and furnished their
comments in March’14. A meeting was held on 30.4.2014
in the Ministry wherein it was decided to revise the concept
note.
• State Govt. submitted a revised Concept Note in July 2014.
CWC examined the revised Concept Note & gave their
approval to the project on 30.7.2014.
• MoWR considered and approved the Concept Note on
17.9.2014. Ministry recommend the proposal to M/o
 DoNER and DEA.
• Both NITI Aayog and DoNER have supported the proposal
in February 2015.
• State Govt. has been requested in May’15 to prepare the
DPR & submit to CWC for techno-economic appraisal. DPR
is still awaited.
• Screening Committee meeting held in DEA on 24.7.2015
and on 9.11.2015 to discuss the proposal. DEA advised the
State Govt. to revise the Concept Note and re-submit along
with the compliance to the issues raised in the meeting.
• Proposal pending in DEA.
3. Tamil Tamil Nadu Irrigated Agriculture Rs 2950 crore/ December • CWC examined the Concept Note, raised some

• Then in May 2015, Principal Secretary, Irrigation Department,
GoUP along with other officials met Chairman, CWC on
22.5.2015 and informed the difficulties faced by the project
authorities in providing the required information within a short
span of time. State Government officials informed CWC that
they have deleted some components/areas from the present
proposal where works have been carried out. The cost of the
project is reduced from Rs.4192 crore to Rs.1748 crore.
• The State Government submitted the revised proposal at the
cost of Rs 1748 crore, vide letter dated 25.5.2015. CWC
examined the revised proposal. In the light of the constraints
faced by the State Government in submitting the requisite
information, CWC gave in-principle approval to the project
proposal for availing loan assistance from JICA.
• Proposal is under consideration in the Ministry.
