New technologies have changed the way children spend their free time.

Do
advantages outweigh disadvantages?

The advent of new technologies has paved the way for transforming how children
spend their free time. While I understand that exposure to modern devices can be of
benefit to children, I believe that the demerits do outstrip the merits.

On the one hand, technological devices may exert positive impacts on children. One
of them is that children can satisfy different preferences through digital platforms.
For example, they can utilize smartphones to listen to their favorite music pieces or
read online stories, which can help them/By doing these activities, they can unwind
and recharge their battery after tons of studying hours. In addition, advanced
technologies can facilitate students’ learning. They can easily access many online
learning resources that enable them to study everywhere and learn at their own pace
via the Internet.

On the other hand, over-exposure to technology may do harm to/harm children.

Firstly, children may suffer from (encounter) several health problems. For instance,
children glue their eyes to the screen could lead to obesity as they usually sit in front
of computers for many hours instead of engaging in physical activities. This health
problem can lead to other severe disorders related to the cardiovascular system, which
may shorten their life span. Secondly, the inappropriate use of/the obsession with
modern devices may hinder children’s academic performances at schools. To
illustrate, many children have wasted a tremendous amount of time playing video
games rather than working on school assignments (paying attention to their studies).
That is the reason why they often receive poor grades at schools.

In conclusion, it is undeniable that innovative technologies greatly benefit children in

different aspects. However, I am inclined to believe the potential problems associated
with this adversely affect children. (there are many arising problems while children
take advantage of advanced technologies.)
