ACTIVITIES

1. We are all same yet different

Materials (to be sourced by the teacher):

 music
 4 posters (A-4 size) numbered 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Materials (to be sourced by the student):

 none

Activity:

 Take students in an open area.

 Place the posters in four different corners.
 Instruct them that you will be playing a game similar to ‘Fire in the jungle’.
 They will have to move in a circle when the music is on. When the music stops
you will call out names of four different thing and the students have to go and
stand under the number allotted to that thing.
Example:
If you like
 apples stand at number 1
 mangoes stand at number 2
 banana stand at number 3
 chikoo stand at number 4
 Refer AS 1 for more options.
 Encourage students to observe their group members each time a new group is
formed.

Discussion after Activity:

Ask students to share their observations, prompting with questions such as:
 Did you learn anything new about your classmates?
 Were the groups always made up of the same students?
 Some groups were small and some groups were large – which did you like
being in?
Tell students that even though they are all alike in many ways, no one is exactly
the same as any

2. Self-esteem

Materials (to be sourced by the teacher):

 none

Materials (to be sourced by the student):

 a coloured paper
 pencil

Ask students to share with the class what they are good at.

Allow few students to demonstrate their talent with the class.

Ask students to share things they would like to learn and be good at.

Explain: What are you good at doing? Playing a certain game? Making your bed?
Making your mom smile? Things that you are good at doing are called your talents.
What are your talents? For example, you might be talented in the way you take good
care of your pet. Knowing that you have a talent or are good at doing something makes
you feel good. That good feeling is part of your self-esteem, or the way you feel about
yourself. A talent can make you have such good self-esteem that it can give you courage
to try new things and to make good choices.

Activity:

 Inform students that they have to make their own personal flower to add to a
classroom display called the Garden of Greatness.
 This display will showcase everyone’s talents! Using art and drawing supplies,
make a flower that has their name and their talents.
 Trace a large flower on a sheet of paper.
 Students to write their name in the center of the flower. Then, draw or trace
leaves and petals for the flower. On each leaf and petal, draw and color a talent
they have.
 Finally, ask students to attach their flower on the soft board of the class.
