Agribusiness

Agribusiness is a broad concept that is referred to farming but not on

actual farms, rather it is agriculturally related to business that produces farm
inputs like machinery, feeds, and fertilizers. It is involve in ownership or
management of agricultural production facilities such as farmlands and livestock
facilities. It is a business related in marketing of farm products such as
processors, warehouses, retailers, and so on. It is brood on research and
development of new agricultural resources and method to improve crop
production. Or simply, agribusiness is a processing or distributing of agricultural
products.

The Agribusiness Systems Orientation

It conveys that the different subsystems must be well-integrated to be able

to work effectively and efficiently. Generally, there are five known vertically-
structured subsystems including input, production, processing, marketing, and
support. There should be an effective coordination which solves the difference
between failure and success. Programs should be aware regarding of the events
and to what is probably to happen in the different subsystems of the whole
agribusiness. Hence, the viability of subsystem to a large extent is dependent on
the viability of the other subsystems.

The Importance of System Orientation as a Field of Professional Discipline

The importance of the agribusiness systems orientation is seen on various

government programs and projects which suggest the need for effective
coordination, coordinated operations and balanced development of the various
interdependent subsystems. Wherein one cannot simply make major decisions in
one stage without taking into account the future situations in other activities of
coordinated systems.
