New security concept from VA30G onwards: a site-specific BIOS password is required. Be
sure to have the necessary site-specific password available before starting. Download the
password files from the CMDB or order it from the Licensing Center.
This document describes how to create and reinstall a recovery image of the system parti‐
tion on FLUOROSPOT Compact-based systems with the COBR (CO Backup Restore) tool.
An initial recovery image was created by the factory.
All the recovery images reside in:
Service (Z:] systembackups\BACKUP_JJJJMMDD_hhmmss - [Service (Z:) - Partition on
2nd HDD].
The recovery image has to be restored if a PC is replaced, the system HDD is replaced or
because of corrupted software.
A new recovery image must be generated in the following situations:
n Following a SW update (Update Instructions), whereby the system SW was changed.
n If the PC or primary HDD was replaced.
n After a service CD (e.g., MS Hot Fix) has been installed.
n Automatically after a failed remote update (RuH) (not for VA30B).
n Perform the following work steps prior to generating a new recovery image:
- Install the SW according to the appropriate UI.
- Restore the FL-C / System backup.
n Create a new recovery image according to the following pages.
n The graphic below illustrates the two different use cases for restoring a recovery im‐
age of the system partition.

The time stamp of the file created will possibly not be correct. It will differ by several
whole hours (depending on the time zone) from the correct local time.

In rare cases, the FL-C may boot up instead of the COBR application.
Remedy: start all over.

2. Scenario (B) - Restoring the recovery image if the PC or system disk was replaced (un‐
partitioned HDD, no image partition (D:\) exists), ( Restoring the Recovery Image if
the PC / System HDD was Replaced, Unpartitioned HDD / Page 15).
Subsequently, the image partition (D:\) must be created using the FL-C SSW ( Creat‐
ing a Default Image Partition on the Primary HDD (System Disk) - Option‐
al / Page 18).
1.6.2.1 Restoring the Recovery Image due to Corrupt SW, Image Partition (D:\) Still Exists
n In the COBR main menu:
- Select <Restore>, ( 1/Fig. 6 Page 13).
- Continue with <OK>.
- Select Service Partition as the desired restore source device,
( 1/Fig. 7 Page 14).
- In the following window, select the recovery image you want to restore,
( Fig. 8 Page 14).
1.6.2.2 Restoring the Recovery Image if the PC / System HDD was Replaced, Unpartitioned
HDD
The following section describes the workflow for restoring a recovery image on a blank,
unformatted, primary HDD.
If the system disk or the PC was replaced, a default image partition needs to be cre‐
ated, see ( Creating a Default Image Partition on the Primary HDD (System Disk) - Op‐
tional / Page 18).
- Continue with ( Creating a Default Image Partition on the Primary HDD (System
Disk) - Optional / Page 18).
- If this is done, continue with Image Rescue.
- If this is done, continue with Restoring the Backup, ( Restoring the Back‐
up / Page 24)
All done!

was replaced.
Rebuilding the image partition does not need to be done if only a recovery image was
restored, e.g., due to corrupt software.
If rebuilding the image partition is done while an image partition still exists, all patient
images will be deleted without possibility of recovery!
n After restoring the recovery image, the image partition (D:\) needs to be created. This
can be achieved by using the FL-C SSW.
Please note that the following work step is required only after the system disk has been
replaced or the complete PC has been swapped!
The following work step is not required after a recovery image of the system partition is
restored.
The COBR partition is bootable and can be selected from the Boot menu.
It is the second device from top in the boot menu.
The Service partition serves as a storage medium for system backups and RUH packages.
The 2nd HDD is available as a spare part and it is blank if shipped from CS stock. There is a
menu item in FL-C SSW (bottom of System Settings page), called <Prepare 2nd HDD>.
Utilizing that functionality will prepare the 2nd HDD, including installing the COBR tool
and creating a default service partition (Z:\).
The disk capacity and material number of System HDD and 2nd HDD (Service Disk) are
identical. Hence there is only one material number that serves as a spare part for both the
system disk and 2nd HDD (Service Disk).
- Close all windows and return to the FL-C SSW. Everything is o.k.
Fig. 22: SSW: Backup and Restore - select the package to restore
n Once the restore has finished, the Distribute Restored Files dialog appears
( Fig. 23 Page 25).

If the latest backup is not used for the restore, an error will occur when restoring the
“DICOM WLAN Client”. In this case the settings have to be configured manually with
information from the WLAN module.
